As the last year has thrown us off our game, me and my partner have had to get a little creative when it comes to dates. Usually, we would be off exploring a new city or out for drinks at our favourite restaurant, but lately, we have had to rely on nature a little bit more.
Whether that meant going for a hike or walking around our local neighbourhood looking for Pokémon on Pokémon Go, we have definitely had to shake things up a little.
While restrictions are starting to open up over the next few months, I think walks are going to continue to be part of our date repertoire, simply because we have found that they’re the perfect way to have an adventure on your doorstep.
So, whether you’ve met someone on local dating sites Guernsey Dating or you’re looking for ways to add a little bit of adventure to your dates while travel restrictions are still in place, here are some of my favourite reasons to go on a walking-date:
Why Going For A Walk Is The Perfect Date For Adventure Lovers
One of the best reasons to start going on walking dates is that they’re completely free.
The pandemic hit me hard during the six months and as a result, we had to come up with dates that were well within our budget. It wasn’t easy, but getting outside is definitely one of the best things in life that doesn’t cost you a thing.
Whether you’re walking around your local area or travelling to a nearby walking route, you won’t have to spend a penny unless you’re taking a packed lunch with you (definitely something I’d recommend, but it’s not essential to making your date magical).
You Can Discover New Places
Although there are quite a lot of walks we enjoy in our area, we’re still finding new ones that we enjoy more than a year after we first started exploring the area more. From challenging hikes to cute woodland walks, it’s amazing what you can find just around the corner from you.
It’s A Great Chance To Chat
Now that’s we’re spending more time at home I have found that a lot of our time is spent in front of a screen. Whether we’re working in the downstairs office or watching TV together, it’s not very often we’ll get to do something that involves stepping away from technology.
Walks, however, are the perfect opportunity to go out into the real world and forget about technology for a couple of hours. We get to stroll around and chat about things that we may not necessarily think to talk about if we’re at home with lots of distractions.
Whether you’re just getting to know each other from sites like Match Me Happy, or you’ve been dating for years, it’s both refreshing and a great bonding exercise.
It Fills A Hole For Adventurous People
Not being able to travel for a long period of time has been incredibly difficult and so discovering new places to walk has been a great way to still ensure I have a sense of adventure in my life. Although it’s not quite the same as exploring a completely new destination, I love discovering a local place I’ve never been before.
I’m sure that walks are one of our favourite date ideas, we’ll be incorporating that into our travels too! I’m thinking a cabin weekend in the Peak District as soon as we can travel again…
