For holiday-makers in the UK, most people only tend to visit Florida when they’re visiting Walt Disney World Resort. While I can totally see why, my visit last year taught me that there is so much more to explore than I had first realised. With plans to go back with my boyfriend when we can travel again, I thought I’d share some of the reasons we think it’s the perfect destination for couples travelling to America.
Although it feels like YEARS ago, last year I was lucky enough to spend some time exploring parts of Florida on a trip with Trek America. Although I didn’t get the opportunity to visit everywhere on my bucket list (Miami I’m looking at you), I did get a feel for what the Sunshine State is all about.
As I start to look towards 2021/2022 travel, my of my plans are focussing on places that I know are going to have the COVID-19 vaccine in place, not only for my own health but for others too. While that limits me, it does give me the chance to explore some of the places that I’ve been dying to cross off for a while.
These trips, most likely, will be made with my boyfriend as for now I feel it’s much safer for me to travel with someone I’m living with.
Although these trips won’t be until I’m 100% sure it’s safe, I’ve been getting a little bit excited at the prospect of visiting the US with my boyfriend. He’s never been and I’d really love to show him exactly why I love to visit as often as I do.
California and Vegas are high up on our list but we’d also love to spend some time exploring parts of Florida. From Disneyworld to Miami South Beach, I feel like our USA bucket list is becoming never ending.
Having visiting Florida before, I thought I’d share with you exactly why I think it’s the perfect location for couples. From visiting tourists to Jacksonville Personals, there really is something for everyone.
Why Florida Is A Great Destination For Couples
Theme Parks, Theme Parks And More Theme Parks
Okay, let’s start with the obvious answer here and one of the most common reasons people from the UK visit Florida. From the Walt Disney World Resort to Universal Studios, there are SO MANY incredible theme parks to visit, especially in the Orlando area.
While this may not be everyone’s idea of the perfect date, for me and my boyfriend it’s a dream come true. We both absolutely love Disney and as far as Universal goes, we could easily spend a whole day getting completely lost in the park. Having briefly visited a few of the parks last year, I know this is 100% something I want to come back to do with my boyfriend when we have the opportunity.
There’s More To Florida Then Just Theme Parks
I know I’ve just done a full 360, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned from visiting Florida it’s that there is so much more to it than just a trip to Orlando. Whether that means exploring the beautiful beaches in Clearwater and St Pete or exploring the Cuban influences in Miami, I honestly left Florida with a bigger to-do list than what I started with when I arrived.
Kennedy Space Center
Kennedy Space Centre was definitely the highlight of my trip to Orlando and I really wish I could un-go, just so I can experience it all over again. Whether you’re a space enthusiast or not, it’s a great date night idea for you and your partner (or for a first-date if you want to stretch to that budget).
Each Area Is Unique In Its Own Right
I know there are a lot of wild stories about Florida and honestly, I can see why. Absolutely everywhere you visit is completely unique in its own way. From dating in Jacksonville to date nights in For Lauderdale, you can definitely find 101 different things to do in each.
The Weather Is Perfect For Outdoorsy Dates
Personally, I think the weather can make or break a date and Florida certainly has some great weather. Although you have to be wary of occasional (read: frequent) storms, things are usually back to being dry and warm just moments later.
Whether you like to get out into nature or like to relax by the pool, Florida definitely has the weather for outdoorsy dates.
If It’s A Beach Date You Want, A Beach Date You’re Going To Get
Beach dates are MY FAVOURITE and honestly, I didn’t realise quite how incredible Florida would be for them. Although I knew that there are a lot of beaches in Florida, I didn’t know that there are TWELVE amazing coasts to explore. I was lucky enough to visit both the Emerald Coast and Space Coast during my visit and if they’re anything to go by, I can only imagine how stunning the beaches are across the other ten coasts.
The Emerald Coast, if you’re ever in the area, is definitely worth a visit simply because of the stunning colour of the ocean. After all, they don’t call it the Emerald Coast for no reason. We stayed in Destin and I’d 100% recommend it for a cute lil’ getaway.
You Can Take A Day Trip To The Bahamas, If You Fancy It
Okay, technically this isn’t Florida, but if you’re staying in Miami you can take a day trip to the Bahamas. I know this is probably the equivalent of visiting France for the day when you live in the UK but to me, that sounds AMAZING and 100% something I would try to pull off while there. Imagine saying you went on a date to the Bahamas, though?
Even though it’s a while until I can start planning dates in other countries, all of the good news surrounding the vaccine has definitely got me excited about what’s to come over the coming months.
Fingers crossed me and my boyfriend will be boarding a plane soon…
