This last year has been incredibly stressful and for most of us, our lives have been somewhat uprooted by the pandemic that is continuing to unfold around us.
For me, I had lots of incredible travel booked for this year. I was going to be spending most of May in Canada, a few weeks in California in September and if everything went to plan I was going to be heading back to Bali for a second time at the end of October. With lots of smaller cancelled trips in between, you can say it’s been a bit of a quiet year when it comes to the ol’ travel blog.
While things are definitely not back to normal as I write this, the news of the vaccine has definitely got me excited about future 2021 travels. From parties with the girls in Vegas to days relaxing on the beach in Thailand, I’m REALLY hoping 2021 makes up for the lack of travel this year.
Although it’s going to feel AMAZING getting back on a plane, there are lots of things that I think are going to have to change in order to travel safely, even if there is a vaccine in place.
Travelling During The COVID-19 Pandemic
Over the next couple of months, I’m going to be posting a number of different guides when it comes to travelling post-pandemic. As I start to travel again, I’ll be sharing my experiences with you.
My first post in the series is going to be focussing on dating while travelling as, of course, there are going to be a lot of things you need to bear in mind if you’re looking to go on a couple of dates while you’re visiting a new destination.
Whether you’re travelling with your partner or you’re meeting people while you travel, you need to be sure you’re being as safe as you possibly can be while dating in 2021.
Research The Destination You’re Travelling To
Whether you’re considering Hertfordshire dating to dating in Paris, you need to be sure you’re researching the area you’re staying in thoroughly. Although cases may be low where you live it’s important you’re doing that extra bit of research to see whether or not the destination you’re visiting has everything under control. While doing this, you’ll also be able to gather information on any barriers you may come across while travelling. From not being able to enter the destination without a negative COVID-19 test to finding that almost everything you need is currently closed, you can no longer book a trip spontaneously and hope that everything is going to be okay.
Make Sure You’re Socially Distancing
Although this may be difficult when you’re on a date, you need to be sure you’re being as socially distanced as you can from other people. Whether this means visiting a tourist spot at a quieter time or choosing to stay in accommodation that has a kitchenette so you can do your own cooking, socially distanced dates are the new ‘in thing’ for sure.
It may be difficult, but if you don’t know the person you’re dating well, you may want to consider socially distancing from them until you know their stance on the current situation. If they’ve been going against the guidelines since day one, it may be safer to distance yourself unless you know they’ve had a negative test.
Pick Safe (But Fun) Activities
A lot of people think that dating during the pandemic means that you’re limited to the things that you can do but if you’re willing to put in a little bit of effort when it comes to research, you may be surprised at what you can find. From beginners surfing lessons to axe throwing, there are SO MANY fun dates that you can do that are still considered safe during this time.
Wear Your Mask And Wash Your Hands
This goes without saying but even with a vaccine, I think we’re still going to be wearing masks and frequently sanitising our hands in 2021. Your date should be no exception to the rule, as, after all, safety comes first!
