Guide to The Most Instagramable Spots in Wroclaw

February 21, 2018

Most of you will know by now that I LOVE Wroclaw, and after just coming back from my third trip there, I think it’s about time I started writing some guides to the city. I’ve already published my guide to where to eat and drink and I have the ULTIMATE guide to Wroclaw coming very soon, but if you’re anything like me you will want to know where the most Instagramable spots in the city are.

Well don’t worry, I’ve got you covered.

Follow me on Instagram here.

Market Square/Rynek

The Market Square is the heart of Wroclaw and the place that initially made me fall head over heels for the city. With stunning multi-coloured buildings worthy of a fairy tale, a bustling atmosphere with street performers and the most incredible history imaginable. There lots of different views in the square that are worthy of the ‘gram, but here are my favourites:

The Square Itself:

How can you not want to take photos of the stunning buildings?

? Market Square, Rynek, Wrocław, Poland

The Street Performers:

Mainly on show during the weekends, the street performers make Wroclaw even more colourful than it already is.

? Market Square, Rynek, Wrocław, Poland

Hansel and Gretel:

Two of my favourite buildings in Wroclaw, joined to together by an arch. Plus, aren’t the names Hansel and Gretel adorable?

? Market Square, Rynek, Wrocław, Poland

The City Hall:

Probably one of the most magnificent buildings in Wroclaw, the City Hall is right in the centre of the square and one you won’t miss, let alone can’t!

? Market Square, Rynek, Wrocław, Poland

From Up High

St Elizabeth’s Church:

This is definitely the hardest of the bunch to climb, but oh boy, are the views worth it. I think there are around 330 steps all together but once you reach the top you get a stunning view of the market square below.

? St Elizabeth’s Church, Kiełbaśnicza 25A, 50-110 Wrocław, Poland

The Mathematical Tower:

Nestled in the heart of Wroclaw University, the Mathematical tower is another favourite of mine for a great view of the market square - this time it includes an incredible view of St Elizabeth’s church too. With a lot less steps than the other options, this may be the best one for those that are not as active.

? Mathmatical Tower of Wroclaw University, Grodzka 16, 50-137 Wrocław, Poland

Mary Magdalena’s Church:

Again, just off of Rynek, Mary Magdalena’s church is a must while in Wroclaw. You climb one of the churches towers to reach the bridge (”witches bridge”) that joins the two together. You can still see the market square from the top, however this time from a completely different angle.

? Mary Magdalena, Szewska 10, 50-122 Wrocław, Poland

Sky Tower:

A little further out, the Sky Tower is the tallest building in Wroclaw. Knowing there is a viewpoint at the top of the building we couldn’t resist going to see for ourselves! It’s a much bigger view than those above, but I think it’s one you should see all the same.

Food and Drink

There are SO MANY Instagramable places to eat and drink in Wroclaw that I think even if I lived there, I wouldn’t be able to visit them all. Instead, I thought I’d share some of my favourites with you (but please comment if you have recommendations for where I should go on my next trip!).

Whiskey in the Jar:

Definitely a lot more Instagramable in the Summer when you can sit outside, but still an absolute gem none the less. With an ‘American’ junkyard theme this bar certainly has a lot of character and everywhere you look there is paraphernalia to look at (you may even find one of the famous Wroclaw dwarves if you look closely).

? Whiskey in the Jar, Rynek 23-24, 50-101 Wrocław, Poland

Iggy Pizza:

Iggy Pizza is one of those places that although not entirely pretty, it has a lot of character. The set up is wooden tables, bright neon signs (my favourite has to be the one that says ‘Real Queens Eat Pizza’) and lots of plants. Definitely one to get on Instagram, and that’s before the pizza even arrives.

? Iggy Pizza, Kuźnicza 10, 11-400 Wrocław, Poland

Pogromcy Meatow:

The inside of this bar is a little dark and less-than-instagramable, however the outside is one of my favourite exteriors in Wroclaw. The windows are covered in brightly coloured drawings that certainly steal your attention as you walk past.

? Progromcy Meatow, Rynek 22, 11-400 Wrocław, Poland

NANAN Cafe is one that is known particularly among bloggers and Instagrammers as a pink paradise. I don’t think there is a single surface in the whole cafe that wouldn’t look good on Instagram and that’s why I love it. The food wasn’t my favourite, but I would definitely recommend it just for the ‘gram.

?mNANAN, Kotlarska 32, 11-400 Wrocław, Poland

Chimney Cake Bakery:

Whether you’re Instagramming the chimney cake or the bakery itself, this is a must visit on a trip to Wroclaw.

? Chimney Cake Bakery, Oławska 4, 50-123 Wrocław, Poland

Cathedral Island/Ostrow Tumski

Cathedral Island is another of my favourite parts of Wroclaw as although it is so close to the Market square, it feels miles away in terms of architecture. I love the different buildings, the incredible Wroclaw Cathedral of St John and the hidden spots (that are perfect for outfit shots FYI).

On the Island:

There are an array of churches and cathedrals on the Island (given it’s name are you surprised?), as well as cobbled stone walkways, hidden gardens - the lot. I love spending a good hour or so wondering around and getting lost here, it’s so picturesque.

? Ostrow Tumski, 48-300 Wrocław, Poland

Love Lock Bridge:

To get to Cathedral Island (Ostrow Tumski) you have to cross Wroclaw’s love lock bridge. One of the prettiest love lock bridges I’ve seen, it’s definitely somewhere you should put on your list before visiting.

? Ostrow Tumski, 48-300 Wrocław, Poland

Flower Market/Plac Solny

Another mini ‘square’ just off of Rynek is the home of Plac Solny - the 24 hour flower market. This beautiful flower market is open to the public 24 hours a day, or all your 4am floral needs (??). It’s such a pretty little area that is crying out to be Instagramed, I promise.

? Plac Solny, 50-061 Wrocław, Poland

Wroclaw Dwarfs

The Wroclaw Dwarfs are dotted across the city and with more than 300 of them, you won’t be sure of ones to photograph! I have taken a picture of every single one I have found (to help me count how many I’ve seen) but one of my favourite photos is this one, as it’s different to the usual.

Have I missed anywhere?
