According to Our World in Data, international travel has significantly increased from 1950 to 2018, a 56-fold increase to be exact. These days, tourists aren’t just visiting China, Turkey, Italy Mexico, Germany, and other popular tourist countries. Travelers are eyeing other, less popular tourist countries as well.

Azerbaijan is one of those countries that are lesser-known yet makes for a great place to travel to. Read on to discover why this Middle Eastern country might be the next place you’ll want to add to your travel list.

1. It’s affordable to visit.

Vacationing abroad can easily become expensive. From plane costs too high expenses for hotels, you might find yourself in debt following a single overseas trip. As for Azerbaijan, the costs for everything from transportation to food at local restaurants are quite modest.

2. The food offers a blend of Southwest Asia and Southeastern Europe.

The influences from nearby Eurasian countries are apparent in Azerbaijan cuisine. Specifically, you’ll notice regional inspirations from Turkey, Iran, and the Mediterranean. When visiting Azerbaijan, we recommend trying Qutab, kufta bozbash, halva, dolma, lavangi, and dushbara.

3. You’ll get to enjoy phenomenal, snow-capped mountains.

Sure, many countries have beautiful mountains. However, the mountains of Azerbaijan are particularly breathtaking. If you’re up for a hike, make sure to check out the Quba region, or visit Mount Babadag for some great sights to see.

4. Outdoor restaurants are popular in Azerbaijan.

Just about anywhere you go, you’ll find a plethora of beautiful, outdoor eateries in this Middle Eastern country. Even if you’re not much of an outdoorsy person, dining in lush Azerbaijan still has got to be one of the most relaxing and beautiful experiences you’ll get to enjoy on your trip.

5. The residents are friendly.

Upon visiting Azerbaijan, you’ll instantly fall in love with the people, and the people will instantly fall in love with you. Expect to be showered with hospitable acts!

6. Getting to the country is easier than many think.

A lot of people worry that they’ll have difficulties getting a visa to former Soviet Union countries like Azerbaijan. But now more than ever before, rest assured that getting a visa to the country is easy. You can now obtain an ASAN visa in just three hours versus three days! Cheers to that.

7. There’s a lot to do.

Walking around old cities, checking out the Heydar Aliyev Center Museum, touring the Formula One tracks, admiring the Candy Cane Mountains in Siyazan, and checking out the Bottle House of Ganja are all great things to do in the country.

8. The architecture is one of a kind.

From the old architectural structures found in Sheki to the impeccable cobblestone houses and roads in the town Lahic, you’ll fall in love with Azerbaijan’s architecture. Make sure to bring a camera or two!

9. The country is more tourism-friendly than you might imagine.

You rarely hear about your loved ones wanting to visit Azerbaijan of all countries, right? Chances are, you might be afraid to visit. In reality, Azerbaijan is quite touristy - not so much for Western Europeans and Americans but for Russians and Arabian neighbours. It’s always good to know that you’re not a total outcast in an unfamiliar country.

Are you interested in booking an Azerbaijan tour package from Dubai? Wise choice! It will be a vacation you never forget.

When we think of travelling abroad, we think of travelling to a large, commonly-talked, developed, wealthy country. However, based on the latter points, it’s clear that Azerbaijan can also make for a great tourist destination. That said, strongly consider visiting it one day soon!
