We all went to the last Makeup Rev party together so we thought it would be a great chance to catch up, so Sophie kindly arranged for us all to stay at the lovely Novotel hotel.
After a long train journey I jumped in an Uber from Euston to the hotel, which was really easy to find – a bonus in London as I get lost still even after living there for four years while I was at University. I was the last to arrive so I didn’t get to ‘check-in’, but I did see a lot of people handily checking themselves in at computers, something I’ve not seen at a hotel before! I don’t get out often, cleary.
When I got upstairs the girls were excited that we had been left a little tiny gift bag each that was filled with chocolates, along with a card from the hotel. It was so beautifully designed too with an illustration combining all of the hotels best bits.
The room itself was lovely and HUGE. As there was three of us staying we had a room with a double bed and two smaller single beds in the corner. They were pretty small but when we got home at 1am the size didn’t really bother us too much. The bathroom was really nice (I hate cheap-looking hotel bathrooms) and had the most hilarious feature, that when you’re in the shower you can press a button that makes the screen between the bathroom and bedroom dissapear. We had a bit of fun messing arond with this, but I couldn’t see any real use for it – other than a saucy shower show maybe? 😉
As we had a bit of time to kill we decided to head down to the pool and sauna. There was no one else there which meant we had it to ourselves and it was absolute bliss. After a quick dip in the pool me and Laura went in the sauna. I’d never been in one before and after getting over the first few minutes being a little bit uncomfortable, I can see why people love them. It was so relaxing. I was really impressed with the whole health club as it also had a gym (which we didn’t use) it all looked incredibly clean and I imagine if I had been there alone and not in a hurry I would have spent much more time there.
After a night out partying we headed back to the room and decided to order room service. The menu was understandably limited at 1am so we all ordered a cheese and ham toastie, which turned out to be cold cheese and ham between two slices of toast. It was SO dissapointing and not worth the £6!
After an okayish night sleep (I hurt my arm so ended up sleeping funny) we went down to breakfast. The queue was huge and we ended up waiting about twenty minutes to get in but it was worth it as the breakfast was really nice. I think breakfast is always my favourite thing about staying at a hotel as the choice is always so varied, and the Blackfriars Novotel hotel was no different. I had some breads, pastries, a full english and lots of apple juice – the perfect hangover cure!
Overall I loved my stay at the Blackfriars Novotel hotel! It was a great location for Central London, the rooms were really modern, the health club was fantastic and the service we received was great.
I’ll definitely be back!
