30 Countries Before I Turn 30

May 15, 2017

30 before 30

I’ve mentioned recently that I have well and truly been bitten by the travel bug and with that, comes a whole load of planning.

Being the ambitious person I am I have decided to set myself a little travel goal.

I want to visit 30 countries before I turn 30 on the 23rd December 2022.

I’ve already visited 11 countries, so that gives me 5 and a half years to visit a further 19. Considering EVERYWHERE I have planned for this year (and incl USA next year) I have already been to at least once – I think I have a little bit of a challenge on my hands.

If I can do a couple of city breaks and bank holiday getaways over the next five years I SHOULD hit it, but I have also gambled that I may be able to hit a couple of bigger, expensive places in that time too.

Wish me luck ?

Countries I have already visited

?? United Kingdom

Does the UK count? I’ve started travelling to more and more places within my home country, so I’d like to think so…. Screw it, I’m including it! 1/30 ?

?? Holland

I visited Holland on a school trip to Kerkrade when I was around 15/16. More recently, I visited Amsterdam too, which is a little (read: a lot) cooler than a residential with the school band. *ahem* 2/30.

?? Germany

While visiting Holland we actually stayed in Germany, so I’m going to count this one. I didn’t see much other than the street our hotel was on, the all you can eat Chinese buffet that was SO GOOD and a McDonalds – but I was there. IT COUNTS 3/30.

?? France

Considering we’re so close I can’t believe it took me 24 years to go to France. I enjoyed it so much I’m going back again this year to visit Strasbourg, Paris and DISNEYLAND. 4/30 – I’d count Disney as it’s own country because it is practically a whole other planet, but I don’t think I can get away with that one.

?? Italy

A couple of years ago me and my boyfriend spent a long weekend in Venice. We went on a weekend where it heavily rained solidly, so it’s definitely somewhere we want to revisit when it’s a little warmer. I’d also love to do more of Italy, particularly the wine region, but for now, Italy is 5/30.

?? USA

This one is a little more exciting because when I was 19 I lived in the States for four months. I was out there working full time for the most of it, but I did get to spend every single day in the Californian sun and it was amazing. As I was working I couldn’t travel much but I’ve got that covered with a huge Trek America trip next year – 6/30 ?

?? Mexico

Whilst staying in America, my Mexican roommate and her family thought it would be a great idea to take me to Mexico to visit some of their relatives. It was SO MUCH FUN. I was legally able to drink there so we went out to a Mexican club and danced to Spanish music all night, I loved it. 7/30!

?? Spain

I don’t really remember a lot of my trips to Spain but I know I’ve been a few times with my family when I was younger. I’m heading to Salou and Barcelona at the end of September 2017, so I’m pretty excited about that. 8/30.

?? Portugal

Again, this is somewhere I went when I was younger but I remember a little more of this as I was around 13/14. I actually really liked it and would love to go back to do a little more exploring, and less lying by the pool. Maybe. 9/30.

?? Poland

Believe it or not, a few months ago Poland probably wouldn’t have even been on my ’30 before 30’ but after booking a spontaneous trip there I have fallen in love, I’m even going back for round two in June ’17. 10/30.

? ??????Wales

I wasn’t going to count this as I live like an hour away, but technically Wales counts as its own country so it’s going on the list! My family used to have a caravan in North Wales so we’d visit pretty much every weekend in the summer. I haven’t been back since then, but I’d love to go and see everything for nostalgia purposes. 11/30.

Countries I want to visit before I turn 30

This list is 100% subject to change depending on money, opportunities and well, me! Every day I find a new country I want to visit and it’s hard picking which one’s I want to go to first.

SO, here’s a rough idea of where I’d LOVE to visit before I hit the big 3-0.

?? Croatia

?? Greece

?? Sweden

?? Estonia

?? Switzerland

?? Canada

?? Norway

?? Japan

?? Cyprus

?? Czech Republic

?? Belgium

?? Latvia

?? Ireland

?? Morocco

?? Austria

?? Andorra

?? New Zealand

?? Slovakia

?? Iceland

Where would you like to visit?

This sounds like the best challenge in the world! I’ve most definitely been bit by the travel bug too, so I share your wanderlust! I would love to visit Holland and Germany, so close to us and so beautiful! And working/living in the States must have been absolutely gorgeous – and California too! To work/live there or NY for a bit is definitely on my bucket list!

You’ve picked some absolute gems to go to – I would love to visit Croatia and I’m hopefully backpacking round Australia this year so planning on getting a trip to New Zealand in there too! I can definitely say Canada is stunning – I went to Vancouver just before Christmas and OMG it’s gorgeous with all the snow in Winter!

My mission is simple. I want to help change the way travel looks, showing both brands and society that plus size people really do travel too. In a community where plus size travellers are made to feel unwelcome, I want to inspire and advise people like me on how they can make the most out of their own incredible travel experiences.Join me as I share my own personal experiences, my best tips and tricks and all of the challenges I face along the way. It won’t always be an easy ride, but it sure as hell will be a fun one.

Together, we can change the way that travel looks today
