If you’re anything like me then your idea of a perfect date is something with a little bit of adventure. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love going to the cinema and grabbing a bite to eat but as soon as my partner mentions hiking boots, my interest is piqued!
As a lover of adventurous dates and someone who loves to try new things, I thought I’d share some of my top tips for planning the perfect date.
Whether you’re planning with your partner of five years or you’re trying to impress on a first date, these tips will help ensure you have the best date night ever:
Don’t Let Time Be A Constraint
Often, people think that a date should be 2-3 hours at most and honestly, that’s just not true. I very regularly plan day-long dates and 99% of the time, they end up being some of my absolute favourites. From a day of hiking to see the sunset to a day of exploring a new city, there’s absolutely no need to put a short time constraint on your dates.
If you really want to (and you know your date well enough) you may even want to turn it into an overnight stay, especially if you have to travel to get to your date location!
Plan In Advance
Although adventure and spontaneity go hand in hand, often it’s better to plan your dates in advance if you’re looking to do something a little different. Whether you’re heading out with someone you met on a Fife dating site or you’re staying a little closer to home, the more you plan in advance the better.
If you have met someone on a Fife dating site, chances are you’re going to want to find something to do in the area, which will often mean a lot of research and prep beforehand. With restrictions still in place as a result of COVID-19, most things require you to book in advance. From axe throwing to canoeing, it’s best to check out availability first.
Don’t Be Afraid To Try Something New
For years I was too afraid to try new things and now that I have my partner to help bring the adventurous side of me out, I’m always saying yes to new adventures while dating!
While it is true that certain things may scare you, you never know what you’re going to enjoy if you don’t give it a go. Some of my favourite memories have been as a result of facing something I thought I was scared of.
Make Sure You Have A Backup Plan
Not everything is going to go right the first time, so having a backup plan in place is essential. It doesn’t have to be a carefully orchestrated backup, but it’s important to at least have *something* in place. Take it from me, as I may or may not be speaking from experience…
So, when are you planning your next adventurous date? Where will it be and what will you be doing?
