Top Plus Size Fashion Tips For A Comfortable Flight
This is a sponsored post.
One of the most common things I get asked when it comes to flying whilst plus size is how to dress comfortably. Although it took me a while to find what made me feel the most comfortable, I finally think after years of flying, I have cracked it. From loose-fitting clothing to breathable materials, there are lots of ways to ensure you’re as comfortable as you can be.
Whilst it isn’t the same for everyone, here are some of my top fashion tips when it comes to a comfortable flight when plus-size:
Choose Something You Personally Feel Comfortable In
One of the best ways to ensure your comfort, of course, is to ensure you wear something you know feel comfortable in. Whether that’s a baggy dress or tracksuit, you need to put your comfort first. Whilst I understand it can be hard to wear clothes that make you feel comfortable in public, remember everyone is in the same boat and most people will be wearing the comfiest clothes they can find.

Wear Loose-Fitting Clothing
If you’re unsure what clothes are going to be the most comfortable, you may want to consider wearing something that is loose-fitting. You’re going to be spending a lot of time sitting down and if you’re in tight clothing you are going to find it hard to get comfortable. Personally, a pair of leggings and an oversized t-shirt works best for me.
Consider Breathable Fabrics
Again, thinking about whether or not the clothes you’re wearing for your flight are breathable is important. The temperature on a flight can vary and if you’re feeling incredibly hot, you’re going to want to be sure your clothing isn’t making you feel sweaty and gross. If you’re going to be wearing them for an extended period of time, you need them to be as breathable as they can possibly. be.
Make Sure You Wear Comfortable Shoes Or Sandals
Another important thing to consider is the type of footwear you choose to wear. Whilst a lot of people prefer to travel in trainers, I like travelling in sandals or flip flops. Although they’re not super helpful when it comes to running through the airport, they’re amazing when my feet start to swell from the pressure. If I’m in trainers for hours and hours, I feel as though they’re just getting tighter and tighter as my feet expand.
If you do want to wear supportive trainers whilst you travel, you can choose to take them off when you’re in the air.
Ensure You Can Control Your Temperature
The temperature on a plane is extremely unpredictable and something you’re not going to be able to predict before you sit down and get comfortable. Most of the time I find planes are too warm but in some cases, the air conditioning can be on so high you feel freezing. To help control this, you need to be sure you come prepared for every temperature possible.
The best way to do this, of course, is to layer with a jacket or two. Not only will it help you control your temperature but it will also help when it comes to saving luggage space.
Pack Compression Socks
Compression socks are great for long flights as they help to ensure you maintain a healthy blood flow during your flight. Although they may not necessarily help with comfort, some people find them essential when it comes to boarding a plane.
Wear A Big Scarf That Can Double As A Blanket
Finally, make sure you’re wearing a big scarf that can double as a blanket. Although this doesn’t necessarily work when you’re travelling to and from a hot country, having a scarf you can use as a blanket is ideal for those times your flight doesn’t include and in-flight blanket. If you don’t want to wear the scarf in the airport, you can choose to tie it to your carry on case or your backpack.
