You guys know how much I love going back to London, so when the opportunity came up to spend a weekend in London with Roomzzz (yes, that’s three z’s!) I really couldn’t refuse.
I’m often there for the day for work, but an overnight stay in one of my favourite cities always cheers me up.
As we had recently celebrated our five year anniversary, I decided to invite my boyfriend to spend a weekend in the place we met. We planned for a jam packed weekend – more about that in another post – and prepared for an amazing weekend staying at a BRAND NEW hotel.
Now, if you haven’t heard of Roomzzz, where have you been?
They currently own six different apart-hotels across the country, covering major cities like London, Leeds and Manchester. What makes them different from other hotels is that they’re a cross between a hotel and an apartment, making them the perfect home away from home.
Having never stayed in an apart-hotel before, I was super excited to see whether or not it would live up to the hype and oh my gosh, did they live up to it.
? Location
The hotel I was invited to stay at was the Roomzzz Stratford, a new development that opened at the beginning of July 2018. It was located about a 15 minute walk away from Stratford main station, with bus links directly outside into Stratford centre (ideal if you don’t want to lug your suitcase around).
In terms of going into Central London, Stratford has really good connections on the Underground, Overground and TFL bus service. If you’re feeling spendy, you can even jump in an Uber to the city centre!
Although you’re not directly in the city, I think the location was actually pretty great. As we were so close to Stratford we decided to spend the day their Sunday and we were not short of things to do there! There’s a shopping centre, Olympic Stadium, incredible restaurants, a massive cinema and so much more!
✔️ The Check In Process
When we arrived at the hotel we were able to go straight to the desk as there was no one there, and within minutes we had our key ready to go to our room. The staff were super friendly, letting us know about all of the hotel facilities that we may want to use.
To top it off, there were some Fox’s Glacier’s on the counter so of course we helped ourselves to a few.
Check in was as early as 3pm, and check out was 11am – late check outs and early check ins were also available to purchase.
☕️ Lobby and Facilities
In the main lobby area of the hotel there were a couple of different things that I believe make the hotel so unique. First of all, there was a gorgeous, stylish seating area that if I had been staying longer, I would have definitely spent some time in. There were lots of people using this area, so you could tell how popular it was with guests.
There was also a small coffee shop that sold hot drinks, as well as a store that sold both fresh and basic ingredients to be able to cook up a feast in your room. I LOVE this as I feel like it means you literally have everything you need all in one place – there was even a fridge with ICE CREAM! How perfect!?
Roomzzz Stratford also had a well equipped gym, which my boyfriend was very happy about. As I didn’t have the right clothes to work out, I decided to sit on the floor and admire instead ?
? The Room
Oh my god, where do I start?
The room was absolutely incredible and after just one night there, I really didn’t want to leave.
We stayed in one of the 1-bedroom Liberty Suites, which had a bedroom, lounge, kitchen, bathroom and balcony. As soon as I opened the door, I knew it was going to be massive as the only thing I could see was a long corridor – always a good sign.
At the end of the corridor we turned left and there was the doors to the bathroom, kitchen/lounge and the bedroom. I was amazed and I hadn’t even seen anything yet!
To view a mini room tour I did on my Twitter, click here.
The first room we went into was the bedroom, which had a MASSIVE bed, a wardrobe, HD TV, bedside tables and a desk. It was bigger than the three bedrooms in my house combined, making it so so so spacious. There was also an adorable tote bag on the bed, which had a London Stratford design on it (something that was very prominent throughout the whole hotel).
The next room was the lounge and designer kitchen area, which was again, huge! On the right hand side there was a full kitchen with loads of storage space, an oven, kitchen crockery, cutlery, cookware, utensils, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave AND a hob. There was also complimentary tea and coffee, but as I don’t drink hot drinks I didn’t have these. The kitchen area also had a table, with enough room for a large family to sit around.
The lounge was also beautifully designed with a sofa, coffee table and another HD TV. We actually spent most of our time here and rather than going out for our evening plans we ordered something in because we thought the hotel was too nice to leave. We spent a chilled evening on the balcony (which was accessed through the lounge), eating takeaway and watching The Big Bang Theory – it was absolutely perfect.
The final room in the Liberty Suite was the bathroom, which you guessed it, was huge! I loved that the bathroom had a bath, and I really wish that I had planned ahead and bought myself a bath bomb and some supplies to have a relaxing bath.
The suite also included complimentary designer toiletries, iron and ironing board, a hairdryer and air conditioning.
Basically, it was perfect.
? Breakfast
As there was a complimentary breakfast provided, we decided not to make breakfast plans and to have our own little breakfast in bed instead. The grab and go breakfast meant we were able to pop downstairs for five minutes, grab everything we needed and take it back up to our room. As much as I love a Full-English in a hotel, I really enjoyed being able to head back upstairs.
We could choose from a range of different croissants and pastries, muffins, juice, water and hot drinks. With handy bags and plastic utensils, we were able to get everything we needed for breakfast in bed within minutes!
✨ Decor
As the hotel was newly built I had very very high hopes for the overall decor and I was definitely not disappointed. The whole place was INCREDIBLE modern and so so shiny and clean! The artwork in the room was incredible and I loved the celestial print in our rooms hallway so much I wanted to put in my suitcase and bring it home.
There was also a really strong London Stratford theme throughout the hotel, with different pieces of artwork representing popular Stratford landmarks throughout the hotel corridors.
? Comfort
After a busy day in both Central and East London, I was so excited to get cosy in the massive hotel bed. The bed was super comfortable and even though it was absolutely boiling outside, the aircon made the room an absolute dream to sleep in!
? Overall
I am so so so impressed with the apart-hotel concept, especially as I felt so at home with Roomzzz Stratford. I can see how it would be absolutely perfect for a family looking to budget and cook their evening meals in their room, as well for someone who is looking to stay in London longer than a few days. It was cosy, convenient and incredibly beautiful. I will 100% be going back and have already recommended to practically everyone I know.
