Photo Diary: Paris, Day Three

March 29, 2017

At the start of March, me and my boyfriend went on a mini-break to Paris as part of our belated Christmas gifts to each other. I had the BEST time, so I thought I’d do a little mini series where I share my favourite photographs from the trip, along with a ‘sort of diary’ of what we did that day.

Also, If you follow me on Twitter and Instagram you will have seen that I have just booked a three-night stay to go back to Disneyland Paris for Halloween as I absolutely FELL IN LOVE when I was there at the start of the month.

Paris Day Three

Anyway, day three was our latest morning without a doubt. We were absolutely knackered after a late night coming back from the Disney Dreams fireworks, so most of my alarms were snoozed.

We actually had quite a lot planned for our third day, however, three days on my feet had meant I was really struggling to walk and I had to take a lot of breaks throughout the day.

Around 10 am we made our way to Printemps as I had read online that the cafe terrace on the top floor is the perfect place for breakfast with a view. Unfortunately, it was raining so we couldn’t sit outside, but we did take some very foggy pictures of the Eiffel Tower.

On our way back downstairs my sister text me to let me know that there was a French airstrike – cue panic and frantic Googling to find out if our flight was going to be okay. It was….

While #frenchflightgate was happening we also decided to go and look for a bistro or cafe so we could get something to eat before heading to our next stop.

It worked out that we were not too far from the Louvre so we thought we’d get the bus for a change as it meant we could take in some of the sights, like the National Music Academy.

I am still convinced that the whole of Paris was inside the Louvre because it was so bloody busy when we got there. It was raining a lot at this point so I think as an indoor ‘attraction’ it was bound to be heaving, but we were literally walking around at a snail pace the whole time.

Obviously one of the main reasons we went was to see the Mona Lisa, which was so much smaller than I was expecting!

After we found our way out of the museum (it was difficult) we walked up to Angelina, a cafe/shop famous for its creamy hot chocolate. We queued for about 30 minutes before getting a table but it was so worth it. The only thing I wish I’d have done was order the white chocolate hot chocolate, as I ALWAYS prefer what my boyfriend orders and he really didn’t want share.

Laduree was just around the corner so I made a quick detour to get a box (albeit a very small box as it was very expensive) to take back to the hotel.

We walked back up to the gardens outside the Louvre and across to the river Seine. The plan was to head to the Pont Des Arts bridge so we could leave a love lock like our one on the Academia bridge in Venice.

What we didn’t realise, though, was that they’d taken all of the locks down as it was getting too heavy for the bridge.

I sulked for around 30 minutes before my boyfriend suggested we take a slow walk back towards the metro station. On the way, however, we found a little cart that was selling padlocks where the guy working there explained that the locks had been moved and it was about ten minutes walk away.

I was knackered at this point, but I wasn’t going to miss out!

After we’d put our lock up we made our way back to the hotel as I was struggling to walk anywhere. We packed up ready to head home and planned started to plan our next trip ✈️

I wish we’d have stayed longer so I could have explored more, but I guess that means I’ll just have to go back 😉
