A Magical Day at Disneyland Paris

March 8, 2017

If you follow me on social media then you’ll know that I have just come back from a five-day trip to Paris with my boyfriend. Part of that trip included a one-day visit to Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios, as neither of us had been before and we felt we were too close not to go.

WARNING: This is going to be a very photo heavy post.

As we had been warned a lot of shops and attractions in Paris would be closed on Sunday, we decided it would be best to go that day and to help make it even cheaper we booked our tickets online with Attractiontix a few days before we were due to go. I think we paid around £42 each and for that we got entry to both parks, fast passes and 15 euros worth of food vouchers each. Not bad value considering the gate price was around £65…

Our entire trip to Paris (apart from the day we flew home) it rained. A lot. I think, looking back, that Disneyland was probably the worst day as it was also incredibly windy and there were on and off hail showers. This meant that for most of the attractions and rides that we wanted to go on were closed.

Although we couldn’t experience absolutely everything, it definitely didn’t stop us having the best. day. ever.

The first thing we did when we arrived was, of course, walked down Main St. We got distracted by the gift shops pretty quickly so I went off to hunt for some ears while my boyfriend got reeled in by all the 25th Anniversary merchandise (which doesn’t officially start until the end of the month). That’s when I saw the most amazing pair of Minnie Mouse ears ever.

They were part of the 25th Anniversary collection but I couldn’t resist getting them, I love that they’re such a cute shade of purple and they HAVE STARS. Anyway, after buying them we walked outside to hear Let it Go playing in french over the speakers. Yep, Ana and Elsa were making their way down Main St and we’d caught it just in time.

Afterwards, we walked up to the castle and explored Fantasyland, before heading to Alice’s Curious Labyrinth and It’s a Small World.

I actually thought it’s a small world was going to be really childish but the big kid in me loved trying to name all of the countries as we went past them, I was even tempted to go around again to try and get the ones I missed…

When we came out it was raining incredibly hard, so I caved and became one of those people that wear a poncho. I looked ridiculous, but at least I was dry-ish.

As walked around the cowboy/Western area and noticed the Silver Spur sit-down restaurant had a deal where you could get two courses (including steak) for 26.99 – sold! Admitidely the meal wasn’t great, but it was partly my fault for ordering my steak medium when I am scared of eating undercooked meat. Ooops.

After we’d eaten it had FINALLY stopped raining, so we walked around a little longer before making our way over to the Walt Disney Studios park. We only spent around 30 minutes here because everything was closed due to the weather and thought it would be better to make our way back to Main St for the 5.30pm parade instead.

The parade was definitely a good choice and probably one of my favourite parts of the day. I have had the song ‘Magic Everywhere’ stuck in my head since we watched it, but it was just so good and all of the performers were so talented (even if the pirates did drop their flags right in front of me).

After the parade, we spent a good hour or so shopping (I got a Bullseye teddy, a 25th Anniversary keyring, a pen and a scarf) then went to get something to eat at Planet Hollywood while waiting for the light show.

I think the Disney Dreams show was 100% the best part of the day and so worth sticking around for, before getting our train back into the city. It had some of my favourite songs, incredible light projections onto the castle and some of the most stunning fireworks I have seen.

We definitely left feeling like we’d had a magical day and as we loved it so much we have planned to go back in November and stay at the resort. One day is just not enough.

Only 8 months to go…
