Ways Blogging Has Changed My Life

March 30, 2016
Today’s post is going to be a little bit of a reflective one as I have been blogging on ‘Kirsty Leanne’ for almost a year and four months now, and I want to share with you all the ways in which it has had a positive affect on my life in such a short space of time.
I have learnt so many skills through self teaching. I honestly didn’t think this would be possible but I have found that blogging has taught me so many transferable skills that I will be able to use for the rest of my life, where ever I go. Before blogging I wouldn’t have been able to do half the stuff I can now, especially when it comes to websites and playing around with coding or Photoshop. It’s helping in my professional life too, as I use all of these skills in my role as Web Manager.
I actually have a hobby now. This may seem really odd, but before blogging I didn’t really have a hobby. I don’t sing, dance, do crafts or play sports… I literally spent most of my free time streaming American TV or watching Netflix. I wish I had the courage to have started my blog while I was in University, as I can only imagine where I’d be now if I was on year 5 of blogging.
I get so much post. Need I say any more? Oh, except for the fact I actually probably get more ‘Sorry We Missed You’ cards than actual post..
I learnt how to approach brands for myself, and events. I would never have dreamed (even a year ago now) that I would approaching brands and PR companies asking if they’d like to work with my blog or take part in an event I’m organising. It was such a scary thought as I am such a nervous person, but now I do it on a regular basis and it’s now become like a second nature to me.
I have been featured in a magazine. I still can’t not believe that my face and my words are in a real life magazine that people can buy in stores. I know it was only a small feature in Blogosphere magazine, however I am hoping it’s the start of many more magazine features!
I have met some of the most amazing people ever. This is probably one of the biggest ways blogging has changed my life, as before I started blogging I moved away from all my friends in London and back to my hometown, where all my school friends had moved on. I had trouble making friends with the people I was working with, so I felt like I only had my family and my boyfriend for company.
Blogging has changed that completely, as I now feel like I always have someone there to talk to if I need to. I’ve made so many close friends, people I can’t actually imagine my life without anymore and although we all live in different parts of the the UK it’s almost like we were never apart when we do see each other. There are girls I message every day, some once or twice a week and others only occasionally – but every single one of them I consider to be an amazing friend. Soppy moment over…
I get to travel a lot. Moving away from London a few years ago was hard and I miss my life there so much, however moving back to the Midlands has it’s benefits as it means I get to travel to blogging events that are in the North or South quite easily! I’ve even been on two blogging holidays in the time I’ve been blogging, and hope to go on many more – they were such amazing experiences.
One of my favourite blogging experiences so far has definitely got to be the Makeup Revolution birthday party – I still can’t believe I was invited!
I honestly think I could babble on forever with this post as there are so many ways I can think that my life has changed since pressing publish on that first ever post, which was actually a Makeup Revolution product review…
How has your life changed since you started blogging? What has your favourite blogging experience been so far?

Lots of love,

If you enjoyed this, you can follow me on social media to keep up to date and never miss a post!

I loved reading this! I feel like all of us just wanted something personal and lovely to make our own and a blog was the answer, haha. Loved this post, and your blog 🙂 x

Sounds like you've had a ball! I'm the opposite on the hobbies front – I have so many, it's fitting them all in that's the problem!

Aww, this is great and I can definitely relate. I always used to hate the inevitable "and what do you do for fun/what are your hobbies" question in interviews etc, because I genuinely didn't have any. Besides maybe reading. But blogging is most definitely now my hobby and I'm happy to shout it loud and proud! Hehe. x http://www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk x

You've achieved so much in so little time, you should be proud! I'm with you on the skills things, this game really teaches us so much, I think we often forget actually! x
