Tips for Blogging and Working Full Time

April 19, 2016
I love blogging. In fact, I love it so much that I write five posts a week, while working a full time 9-5.30 job. I’m not going to say it’s easy, in fact some days I am looking at a computer screen from 9am until 11pm, but I love it and don’t think I’d have it any other way. I thought I’d share some tips on how I managed to keep up with work, blogging and a (little bit of a) social life.
Make the most of quiet weekends
I have a lot of weekends where I don’t have plans, mainly because most of my friends live at least two hours away from me, so I make the most of them and use them as blogging weekends! I plan, schedule and write as many posts as I can, with breaks of course. If I have a recipe planned I use this time to make them, so I can take photos while it is still light.
Take universal photos
I try to take photos that can be used for a variety of different things, that way if I have an idea for a blog post and I don’t have a photo for it, I can search my folder of generic photos and see if I have one that fits. This is always helpful on those weeks where I have busy weekends!
Write down blog post ideas when you have them
I can random blog posts ideas while I’m at work, when I’m trying to get to sleep and even when I’m in the bath – then sometimes I have absolutely no inspiration! Writing the ideas down when I have the chance (obviously not in the bath) helps give me a constant flow of blog posts for when I’ve got writers block. If you need some inspiration too, you can check out my list of 100 blog post ideas.
Don’t be hard on yourself if you miss a post
I didn’t post on Good Friday and Easter Monday as I had too much going on and at first it bothered me, but then I remembered I am only human and life is going to get in the way. There’s no need to feel guilty if you don’t post when you normally do, everyone deserves a break.
Have me time
This is one of the most important things, and one you shouldn’t forget to do! It’s so easy to get caught up in all the work that is involved with blogging, but you still need to make time for yourself. I love having pamper sessions, baking or just chilling out watching Netflix, so I do these whenever I want! I’d never let blogging stop me from having some well earned me time.
Do you have any tips for people blogging and in full time work?

Lots of love,

I don't know how you manage 5 posts a week – 3 nearly kills me sometimes! I love taking my photos in batches so that I've got them all ready and I write drafts in my lunchbreak at work.
