Throwing a Grown-up Halloween Party

Grown up halloween party

If you’ve been living under a rock then you won’t know that me and Ashton Jade are hosting a grown up Halloween party at the end of this month – the #BloggerHalloweenParty. It’s basically going to be a Halloween party, but for grown ups with games, cocktails, music and more cocktails.

All the event planning got me thinking about the Halloween parties I used to go to when I was a kid, and how a throwing a grown up Halloween party is really not that different at all.

So what do you need to throw a grown up Halloween party?

I have to admit, alcohol is probably the only thing that turns a Halloween party into something grown-ups might consider attending – but how can you resist? Scarily-themed-and-terribly-named cocktails are my calling.

In the real world, Halloween is when kids dress up in costumes and beg for candy. In Girl World, Halloween is the one day a year when a girl can dress up like a total slut and no other girls can say anything else about it.

Mean Girls said it best – anything goes when you’re an adult at a Halloween party. Unless you’re me, which means you’ll 99% end up going as a cat.

Games at a kids party always meant apple bobbing, pumpkin carving and wrapping people up in toilet roll – and adult parties are no different. If you can involve alcohol in one way another that’s even better.

The cheesier the game the better.

The decor of a party is definitely what makes it, so with Halloween, I always aim to go all out. Fairy lights, cobwebs, crime scene tape, light up ghosts – the lot.

What is a Halloween party without some cheesy classics? Here are a few of my top picks:

  • Thriller – Michael Jackson
  • Timewarp – The Rocky Horror Picture Show
  • Tainted Love – Maralyn Manson
  • I put a Spell on You – Nina Simone

Pinterest is a gold mine for spooky recipes, and if you’re throwing a Halloween party nibbles are a must. I want to make this, this and this.

To help you plan a grown up Halloween party Festive Lights have put together the ultimate guide and party pack that you can view and download here. It’s getting me super excited for the #BloggerHalloweenParty as it’s less than two weeks away!

My mission is simple. I want to help change the way travel looks, showing both brands and society that plus size people really do travel too. In a community where plus size travellers are made to feel unwelcome, I want to inspire and advise people like me on how they can make the most out of their own incredible travel experiences.Join me as I share my own personal experiences, my best tips and tricks and all of the challenges I face along the way. It won’t always be an easy ride, but it sure as hell will be a fun one.

Together, we can change the way that travel looks today
