In my previous Home and Lifestyle blog posts I have mentioned that I live in a rented three-bedroom house, which obviously has its limitations when it comes to being able to make my house feel like home.
Although my landlord is quite lenient when it comes to wallpapering and painting, I don’t think I will ever be 100% happy with where I am living as I can’t make any I have always wanted. I’m talking a marble bathroom with roll top bath, a big cosy fireplace in the living room and a walk in wardrobe in the bedroom that would make Carrie Bradshaw jealous.
The silver lining is, I guess, that where I am now isn’t going to be my forever home.
While me and my boyfriend figure out what it is we have had to come up with ways to switch it up and feel cosy in a rented property, making it feel like home as much as we can. You may have already seen that I have managed to achieve that in my living room by refreshing the wallpaper, but the next priority for us is 100% going to the bedroom.
As I can’t afford to decorate right now I have been looking at all the different ways you could spruce up your bedroom, without having to spend too much. This has obviously meant countless hours searching for ideas on Pinterest…
Spruce up your Bedroom
A great way to spruce up your bedroom without actually decorating is to buy some different sized photo frames and make a little gallery of all your favourite photographs to put on the wall. eBay actually sell mix-matched sets of photo frames that make this SO MUCH easier. You’re welcome.
Candles & Diffusers
If you’re anything like me you’ll like to regularly change the candles and diffusers you use in different rooms. It’s surprising how much difference it can make to switch up your usual scents in your bedroom, especially as it cost practically nothing to buy a new candle.
In my bedroom, I’m currently lighting the new Pink Processo and Cassis* candle from Baylis and Harding and it is DIVINE.
There is nothing better than new bedsheets, amirite? If I ever fancy a change the first thing I think of is buying new bed covers. As my room is almost all painted cream it’s quite easy for me to change the whole colour scheme of my room just by changing my covers, and who can resist when there is such a gorgeous bedspread collection at Yorkshire Linen Store? The La Belle Ochre bedspread set is absolutely stunning.
Art Prints and Quotes
Similar to photos, art prints and quotes can be dotted around your room to give it a little refresh. I use them to spruce up my office, and if I ever get bored of looking at the bare walls in my bedroom (bound to happen soon) I can put some of my favourites in some nice frames. My favourites are obviously from That Lame Company, especially now you can your own personalised quote printed for the same price as a coffee and a slice of cake.
What do you do to spruce up your bedroom when you can’t afford to decorate?
