Spaghetti Bolognese Recipe with Cirio Tomatoes

March 31, 2016
I haven’t done a recipe in a while, so I thought I would go back to basics and share my all time favourite thing to make – Spaghetti Bolognese.
I probably make this at least once a week, and it’s my meal of choice whenever I visit my parents as I love it so much! So, when Cirio kindly sent me a selection of their chopped tomatoes and puree range* to try I couldn’t think of a better suited recipe for them.
The recipe below serves four and takes around 30 minutes to make.
500g of Mince Meat
1 Onion
Handful of Button Mushrooms
2 Carrots
1 Teaspoon of Lazy Garlic
1 Teaspoon of Lazy Chilli
1 Tin of Chopped Tomatoes
1 Tine of Finely Chopped Tomatoes
1 Pot of Double Concentrate Tomato Puree
300g Spaghetti
Italian Seasoning
Beef Stock
Dash of Worcester Sauce
Salt and Pepper
1. Dice the onion, mushrooms and carrots and place them in a food processor. Blend until they’re finely chopped.
2. Start boiling water in a pan, after 10 minutes or so add the spaghetti.
3. Fry the diced veg, garlic and chili in a pan for 2-3 minutes, then add the beef.
4. As the beef is browning add the beef stock and a tablespoon of Italian seasoning.
5. Once the meat is cooked add both tins of chopped tomatoes and stir. Add in the beef stock and double concentrate tomato puree and stir again.
6. Finally, add the Worcester sauce and the salt and pepper, another tablespoon of Italian seasoning and reduce the heat for 5-10 minutes.
7. Serve on top of spaghetti and add a sprinkle of cheese if you’re feeling adventurous…
So, there you have one of my favourite ever meals to make at home. It’s super quick, amazingly tasty and a bit of a crowd pleaser. I noticed that when using the Cirio tomatoes and double concentrate instead of my regular ingredients really enhanced the flavour of the bolognese, giving it an even richer taste.
How do you make your spaghetti bolognese? I’d love it if you shared your recipes with me!

Lots of love,
