Review | Point A Hotels | Liverpool Street | London

October 15, 2019

This review is in collaboration with Point A Hotels.

Last month I visited London for a few days for Borderless Live, an incredible festival-style event for bloggers and creators.

Although I stayed in a nearby hostel for the majority of the trip, Point A Hotels kindly offered me a room in their Liverpool Street location for the first night. Knowing it was nearby, I thought it would be the perfect chance to try the chain for the first time.

So, Who Are Point A Hotels?

With various locations across London and Scotland, Point A offers design-led and affordable rooms to those looking for a comfortable stay. The rooms are small, smart and super cosy.

Although I didn’t get to spend long at the Liverpool Street location, I did get a great feel for how handy the hotel can be for those looking to visit the city on a budget – something I do on a regular basis.

First Impressions

After one disaster after the other, we arrived at the hotel in a little bit of a tizz. My friend’s suitcase had been stolen on the journey into London and we’d spent a couple of hours trying to rebuy everything she’d packed on a very busy Oxford Street. It was late, we were tired and we were definitely looking forward to getting comfortable for the evening.

As we walked through the doors we were greeted by two incredibly friendly members of staff. They quickly checked us in and told us everything we needed to know about breakfast and the check-out process. We asked about the nearest supermarket and they gave us directions to a number of options in the area. Thankfully, the closest was just a 2-minute walk away.

The lobby was beautiful with a modern design and just around the corner from the reception and the coffee shop, there were plenty of tables dotted around for people to enjoy a drink whilst working away at their laptop. If I was staying longer, I could definitely see myself sat here with a croissant and an orange juice answering my morning emails.

In terms of accessibility, there were two decent sized lifts on either side of the hotel.

The Room

Knowing that we were staying in a budget hotel I was expecting a small room, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much space we had between us. The bed was a standard double and either side of it there were plenty of cupboards and storage space to make use of. My case fit perfectly down the side of the bed, giving us space to walk around the room without tripping over all of my stuff.

The bathroom had enough space for me to shower and change, however, it wasn’t as comfortable as I’d like it to be for a plus-size traveller.

Whilst I don’t think I could spend more than a few days in a room that size, I think it’s perfect for those times when you know you’re not going to be spending a lot of time in your hotel room.

Comfort

In terms of comfort, the bed was great. I always worry that when booking a budget hotel you sacrifice on comfort but this just wasn’t the case with Point A Liverpool Street. If I didn’t have a speed networking appointment to get to, I probably would have stayed in bed as long as I possibly could.

All hotels are equipped with essentials that offer the best stay, including comfy Hypnos beds, power showers, smart TVs and of course, their signature mood lighting.

Technology

One of my favourite things about Point A was that the room was very advanced when it comes to technology. With USB chargers and handy screens to control the lighting and temperatures in the room, it was easy to make my experience as comfortable as I needed it to be. I’m dying to upgrade my home to a smart home, so having a little play with these features was definitely a great way to test out the concept.

The Breakfast And Coffee Bar

The BEST thing about the hotel, however, was the breakfast. I love a hotel that has a free breakfast included and the one at Point A definitely did not disappoint. Knowing I had a busy day ahead I filled up on pastries, yoghurt and fruit – all included in the room price.

The breakfast area was in the lobby, making it incredibly easy to grab your breakfast and head out for the day.

Partners

Although I didn’t get to experience this for myself, I love that Point A Hotels partner with local companies to offer guests exclusive offers. From restaurants to gyms, you can make use of those places closest to you. Liverpool Street partners include DW Fitness First, Carluccio’s and Golden Tours.
