Mother’s Day ideas for when you’re near and far

Whenever it’s Mother’s (and Father’s) Day I always try to pull out all the stops to make sure the day is as special as it can be. Failing that, I get a kick-ass present that makes up for when I can’t always make plans on the day.

When I was living in London for University I couldn’t always make it back for every occasion, so I had to think of ways to make things just as special even though I was 150 miles away. Now I’m living back in my hometown it is a little easier,  but I still like to change it up every year.

Afternoon Tea 🍰

Last year for Mother’s Day all the women in my family went out for Afternoon Tea at Hadley Park House Hotel. It was the first time I’d ever tried an afternoon tea but it was possibly one of the best Mother’s Day’s we’ve planned. It was so much fun and the food was delicious, even if we couldn’t finish it all…

Garden Party 🏡

As we enjoyed afternoon tea so much last year, we thought we would try and put on our own this year. Hopefully it’s sunny enough (probably not gonna happen) to host our little party outside in the garden, but if not the conservatory will have to do. We’re going to make lots of cakes, sandwiches and other nibbles and drink ALL the tea. Such a cute little idea.

Spa Day 🛀

You can’t beat a spa day and around this time of year there are always Mother’s Day offers on websites like Wowcher and Groupon. It’s such a relaxing way to spend the day and a cute way of showing whoever you’re celebrating with that your appreciate everything that they do.

Pamper Care Package 🌸

If you can’t take your Mum to the spa, take the spa to them! Put together a little gift box with their favourite skincare products, some bubble bath, a selection of face masks, prosecco and some yummy chocolates. Although it might be a bit of a pricey option, it will be SO WORTH IT - places like TNT can even help you out with the shipping if you’re worried about how to send it!

Tickets for a Day Out 🎢

Even though you may not be able to spend the day with you’re Mum, you could always treat her to a nice day out. That could be a night at the theatre, a trip to a nearby theme park or even a day ticket to visit you!
