It’s Been a While: Life Update

September 30, 2016

Life Update | Lifestyle BloggerI haven’t really been blogging much lately and although I feel like a terrible lifestyle blogger at times, it’s actually been quite nice.

A lot of things have changed since my last life update, so I thought I’d shed some light on why I have been laying low on the blogging front.

I started a new job

Earlier this year I left my Marketing job of almost two years and went head first into the big wide world of unemployment. After a month of searching for a better role, I managed to find a job that I really liked the sound of. Luckily, I got the position and started a couple of weeks later.

The role is Marketing Executive for a healthcare company in my local town.

I’ve been there just over a month now and I’ve already learnt so much more about SEO, Digital Marketing and Websites than I ever did at my last job – it’s amazing!

So I’m Marketing Executive by day and lifestyle blogger by night!

I cancelled a holiday another booked another (better) one

I mentioned in a life update at the start of the year that I had booked a four-star-all-inclusive-holiday-made-of-dreams, however, that got cancelled. Money was a bit of an issue so we decided it would be best to cancel and save for something bigger.

That something bigger is amazing, by the way.

Next September I am going to be doing a 16 day Trek across the states with Trek America! I originally had it planned for April but something came up so now in just under year I will going on the trip of a lifetime across 16 states. I’m hoping to spend a little bit of time in NY and LA at the start and end of my trip, but I’ll keep you all updated on that as I start to plan more.

I moved house

Yes, this is the third time I have moved house since I started being a lifestyle blogger last January but I am staying put this time – I promise! We’ve moved to a bigger place as my last house was so small and I absolutely love it. We are hoping to stay here for as long as it takes to save enough for a mortgage, which basically means I am well on my way to being a real adult now.

I joined the gym

As part of my vow to get fitter (America is a huge motivator right now) I decided to join the gym that is a two-minute walk from my new job. I haven’t been as much as I’d have liked to since joining but I went for my health MOT last week which has definitely kick started my need to be healthier.

I’m hoping to go swimming most days after work as it’s the easiest exercise for me to do until my fitness levels increase. Plus, I’m now petrified of treadmills after falling off one a couple of weeks ago.

I’m organising another event (probably my last, too)

I have been busy organising my next event with Ashton (Ashton Jade) the #BloggerHalloweenParty. This is taking up most of my time in the evenings, which is probably why I haven’t had much chance to blog.

It’s pretty similar to a lot of my last events, however, we are making the main emphasis the interaction between bloggers. After having some negative feedback I really felt that more effort could have been made to get bloggers talking to the people they hadn’t met before, so if you’re attending the Halloween Party, expect a lot of this!

I’m undecided at the moment but there is a good chance this may be my last event. It takes up a lot of my time and as rewarding as they are, I am at the point of my life where I have to focus on other things.

I’m too scared to announce this one just yet, but it’s going to be a major part of my future, so watch this space.

No Mum, Dad and any other family reading – I’m not pregnant!

So yeah, I’ve been a little bit busy lately. Can I sleep now?

Wow – it does sound like you’ve been really busy recently. Good luck with everything though – it sounds like things are all positive and going well though. And good luck with the event! x

My mission is simple. I want to help change the way travel looks, showing both brands and society that plus size people really do travel too. In a community where plus size travellers are made to feel unwelcome, I want to inspire and advise people like me on how they can make the most out of their own incredible travel experiences.Join me as I share my own personal experiences, my best tips and tricks and all of the challenges I face along the way. It won’t always be an easy ride, but it sure as hell will be a fun one.

Together, we can change the way that travel looks today
