International Box Swap #1 USA Easter Candy

International Box Swap #1 USA Easter Candy

April 15, 2016
It’s no secret that I love absolutely anything to do with America. For as long as I can remember it was my dream to live there and for a short period of time I got to make that dream a reality. The only trouble with spending three months in California was that I got a taste for America and now there’s so much I want to see, experience and eat….

There’s not a lot I can do about experiencing more of the States until I am earning more, but I have found an amazing way to get to be able to try their foods at the same time as sorting cravings for the things I fell in love with while I was there. This amazing invention is the ‘International Box Swap’ Facebook group, where once approved as a member you can post swap requests for things like food, makeup, stationery and souvenirs – with pretty much anyone in the world.
This is my second swap now, but definitely my favourite so far. I’m still planning on doing a couple more USA swaps, one for each candy season and then a baking inspired one too. Let me know if you would like to see posts on these ones too?
The budget for this swap was $60, so as you can see it’s a whole lot of food.
I am SO SO SO happy with the contents of my box. When I picked it up from my neighbours after work I was shocked at how heavy it was, and spend a good half an hour going through everything properly.
I’m not going to list everything individually, but the box included:
  • 5 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies
  • Gluten free and regular baking mixes (I am trialing less gluten in my diet, so I was thinking ahead with this one!)
  • Lots and lots of USA Easter goodies, including their Cadbury’s Mini Eggs as I wanted to taste the difference
  • Mixes for two of my favourite drinks while I was living there – Peach Iced Tea and Raspberry Lemonade
  • Some savoury snacks that I miss having in my cupboard
  • A mix of American classics (Bottle Caps, Nerds etc)
I’m already munching my way through the Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies as I write this, but I’m thinking of doing a couple of mini American food tasting blog posts. Is this something you’d like to see? Let me know in the comments before I eat everything without taking photographs…

If you want to join the Facebook group here is the link, however if they get a rush of requests from one country they tend to accept them in small bursts so it may take a while to get accepted.

Lots of love,

If you enjoyed this, you can follow me on social media to keep up to date and never miss a post!

Oh my gosh, this box looks amazing! I love US swaps like this! I used to do nail polish ones until the post office got funny about sending nail polish! 🙁

Oh. My. Goodness! This looks incredible! I love all things American. Especially american food! I would love to do something like this but would worry that I would send and the other person wouldn't. I suppose it is a risk you have to take!
