If you follow me on Twitter you will definitely know that I have spent the last few months organising the first ever Shropshire Blogger Meet. The event took place on the 02/05/2015 and was held at the gorgeous Two Henry’s Pub in Shrewsbury. It was amazing to be able to bring together so many local (and some not so local!) bloggers meet together for what was definitely the best experience I have had since I started blogging!
|Goody Bag Preparation – it took two and half hours!|
The months running up to the event I spent a lot of time contacting brands to see if they wanted to be involved in the event and I was so overwhelmed with the response I received! So many lovely brands wanted to gift goody bag samples and raffle prizes for the bloggers attending. A couple of nights before the event my Mum and Sister came over to help me put the goody bags together, which I am so grateful for as it would have taken me four or five hours without their help as there was so much stuff!
The night before the event Adele, from Adele’s Journey to a Better Life drove all the way from Kingston to come stay with me and help finish off any last minute preparation! We put the last of the samples into the goody bags and organised all of the raffle prizes and finally made it to bed at around 1am, but I found it extremely difficult to sleep as I was so nervous/excited about the day ahead!
The next morning I woke up super early and got ready while my amazing boyfriend made me and Adele bacon sandwiches for breakfast. I think at this point I was starting to get really nervous as I was rushing around like an absolute idiot trying to sort everything out! Karen from Jinsky Beauty met us at mine and helped with some of the boxes in her car – thank you so much!

My sister drove us there but not without stopping for a quick Starbucks drive thru on the way, which I didn’t end up drinking as I was so nervous I just wanted to get inside and start to help setting up! Sarah from Everything You Don’t Need to Know About Sarah had done an amazing job with the space and had put a cute little cupcake in a box in every bodies space! We put all of the raffle prizes and product displays out and after placing a goody bag at each seat we grabbed a quick drink and waited for everyone to arrive.

As everyone started to arrive I got a little bit more nervous but everyone was so lovely it helped to make me feel really relaxed! After everyone had arrived and had a chance to get to know each other Charlotte from Smashbox gave an amazing talk about some of her favourite Smashbox products. I was so excited to finally see the Contour Sticks as when I went to the event last month they hadn’t arrived yet. The talk definitely went down well as everyone was trying the products, a few people were even brave enough to spray the primer water onto their face. At the end of the talk Charlotte handed everybody a mini sample of the Smashbox 24 Hour Primer, which is what they are best known for. I can’t wait to try!

After Sarah and Charlotte’s talks the Two Henry’s put on an amazing buffet of sandwiches, wedges, samosas, onion rings and mozzarella dippers! Everyone had a chance to tuck into some food and get to know each other a little better. After everyone had eaten Chelsea from Chelsea Haden Writes gave a quick talk on her top 5 blogging tips which I know went down really well with some of the bloggers that have not been blogging long! She even reminded me that I need to make my blog mobile friendly after Google changed their algorithms.

After everyone had had a chance to finish their food it was time for the raffle draw. I got each of the bloggers to pick out a winning ticket! I am so pleased with the £80 raised for my chosen charity, Scope which is a personal charity to me as I lost my Aunt to Cerebal Palsy last year. Thank you so much to everyone who took part, I think everybody was extremely happy with their prizes!

After the raffle everyone had time to chat and look through their goody bags (if they wanted to) before the event was over. It was absolutely amazing to meet every last one of you and I am sorry if I was rushing around like a headless chicken most of the time, I was so unbelievably nervous! I still can’t believe I dropped my phone while taking pictures of everyone with their raffle prizes, it must have been the wine I was drinking! Each blogger that attended got to go home with a goody bag full of some amazing samples each. And I would like to personally thank all of the brands involved, I am so grateful for all of your help.
Thank you so much to everyone involved and to everyone that helped me along the way especially my Mum, my Sister, Adele (my voluntary assistant!), Sarah and Karen. I couldn’t have done this without you girls. Planning is already well underway for my next event, the West Midlands Blogger Meet and this one is going to be much bigger as its for 50 people. The spaces have already been filled, but if you would like to be put onto the reserve list let me know me know at [email protected]
I can’t wait for the next one now!
Have you ever organised an event, or been to a blogger event? I’d love to hear more about your experience!
