Now that it’s getting warmer and the sun is starting to make an appearance, it’s time to start thinking about all of the home improvements you’re going to make in preparation for garden parties and get-togethers. With a lot less rain, light nights and the perfect warm weather, summer is the PERFECT time to focus on your renovations. With that in mind, here are some home improvements you can make this coming summer:
– Give Your Garden A Little Bit Of A Summer Makeover
As it is going to be one of the places you spend most of your time during the summer, one of the first places you should focus on renovating is your garden. With the sun shining every day, your garden is definitely going to be the most popular place to be, no matter what the occasion. Whether you’re having a BBQ with all of your family and friends or out in the garden enjoying the sun, you need to ensure your garden is well prepared. This not only means thinking about how safe it is but also means thinking about whether or not it is a safe place for everyone to be.
– Create A Communal Space Perfect For Parties
Chances are, you’re going to be planning lots of get-togethers and parties as the weather gets warmer. Like most Brits, as soon as the sun comes out all I want to do is invite my friends around for an evening of drinks and delicious food. If you are planning on hosting summer parties, you need to consider whether or not you have a suitable communal area for the occasion. Whilst you may already have a living room, it might not be a space you want to open up to everyone if they’re going to be having a drink that could easily spill on your gorgeous sofas. After all, you never know what could happen
– Change Up Your Accessories For A More ‘Sunny’ Feel
This is one of my absolute favourite things to do as it gives my house a whole new look and feel, without having to spend hundreds of pounds on renovations. If you are on a little bit of a budget but you want to give your home a fresh feel for summer, why not consider changing your accessories to reflect the season? Whether this means buying yourself some new wall art or changing the flowers you display, you may be surprised how much difference it can make to your home.
– Decorate With Some Of The Seasons Best Flowers
Summertime is home to some of the most beautiful flowers, so why not celebrate by bringing the outside in? Whilst I’m not the best when it comes to looking after plants, I do love to have a little bit of greenery dotted around my most common-used areas. What I tend to do every time a new season rolls around is take a look at the seasons best flowers, deciding which ones will be a great fit for my home. If I can’t find them at my local store, I’ll find a florist that can put together an arrangement specifically. If it’s a plant rather than a bouquet, I’ll also research everything I need to do in order to keep it alive during each season.
– Upcycle Your Old Furniture To Bring It To Life
One of my favourite ways to give my home a completely new look is to upcycle and unwanted furniture I have. I’m always moving my rooms around so when I find a no longer have a use for, I do a little research into whether or not it can upcycled. Most of the time my research involves browsing Pinterest or Instagram to how others have upcycled a similar item, however, most of the time I will go with a completely different design altogether. All you need to get started is a little bit of inspiration and a creative hand! If you do struggle, however, you can even hire someone to do the creative side for you.
How are you going to be renovating your home this summer? I’d love to hear all of your ideas!
