My boyfriend and I have been together almost eight years now and despite all that time, we still make an effort to have at least two date nights a month. Whether it’s going out to eat or doing a fun activity at home, we like to make sure you’re setting time aside to date.
Lately, however, we have been struggling to come up with new ideas for things we haven’t done before. We regularly recycle our past dates but for the most part, we like to switch things up a little. With the pandemic and eight years of dating, ideas are a little thin on the ground.
To help inspire you and to get some creative ideas floating around my head, I decided to put together this post with a couple of my favourite fun date ideas for all ages. Whether you’re in a serious relationship in your twenties or you’re just starting older dating online for the first time, these dates are for absolutely anyone!
Dating At Any Age
Before I get started, I wanted to touch on the importance of older dating. Here on kirstyleanne.com, I’m huge on diversity and inclusion. With a business that fights for inclusivity when it comes to plus-size travel, I want to make sure my content doesn’t exclude people. That means, of course, occasionally I am going to write posts that appeal to a wider audience.
I’ve covered various different topics when it comes to dating on my blog already, so today it only felt right to speak about older dating too. After all, you can find love at any age!
Fun Date Night Ideas (For All Ages)
So, here are some of my favourite date ideas for all ages:
Create Your Own Home Cinema
I’ve mentioned movie nights before but there’s something special about going the extra mile and creating your own home cinema. We often drag the mattress downstairs so that we can make the space as cosy as we possibly can. We turn the lights down, grab lots of incredible snacks and light our favourite scented candles. We pick a couple of great movies and an evening of cuddling up together and honestly, it’s one of my favourite things to do. For some of the best movies to choose for a movie night, you may want to check out this site here.
Go For A Late Night Walk
Although I love to go for a lunchtime walk, there’s something so satisfying about going for a wander before you settle down for the evening. Whether it’s during the summer when the evenings are still light or in the winter where you get to bundle up warm, you may be surprised at how much you enjoy getting outside. With no distractions, you can spend time either catching up or getting to know one another.
Try Cooking A New Recipe Together
This is one of my favourite things to do and while we’ve been spending more time at home, it’s actually something we have ended up doing at least once a month. We usually spend some time together scrolling through Pinterest, looking for recipes we’ve never cooked before. Once we find one we both agree on, we head out to buy the ingredients and then spend a couple of hours trying to make something new. Whether it turns out perfectly or it’s a complete disaster, we still have A LOT of fun and most of the time we get to enjoy a delicious meal afterward.
If we can’t find a meal we want to cook, we sometimes turn to baking too!
Create A Scrap Book Filled With Your Favourite Memories
If you’ve been dating for a while and you want to do something crafty together, putting together a scrapbook filled with your favourite memories is a great idea. All you need to do is collect some of the things you’ve saved together, print out some of your best photographs and then buy a book to keep everything in. You can be as creative as you want, or you can keep things simple.
By going through all your photos and remembering the good times you had together, you may even spark inspiration for your next few date nights.
