Last weekend I travelled to London for BBC Good Food Show at Olympia, London. I’d been offered a press pass so I thought I would take my Mum as my plus one, as I knew she would love it as much as me. The journey there went much faster than expected and as soon as we arrived at Euston station we jumped in a taxi and headed to Good Food Show London.
Good Food Show London
We got to the Good Food Show quite early so the first thing we did was head to the Press Office, where we were given the choice of what shows we would like to go and see in the Supertheatre and Tasting Theatre. We choose to go and see Paul Hollywood and to go the the wine tasting (of course!). After a cup of tea (cider for me) and a taste of some of the lovely samples they had set out, we made our way to the Cakes and Bakes Show, which was an additional show alongside the Good Food Show London.
We didn’t get much time to explore before our 12.00 date with Paul Hollywood, but we did spot some delicious brownies and a stand selling sprinkles jars at eight for £5. I went to get some before I left, however, they had sold out of most of the ones I wanted, so I only ended up with three.
We then headed off to see Paul Hollywood in the Supertheatre and we so pleased to see that we had front row seats! How amazing?! Paul made some cheese and pancetta bread and a cherry roulade, which both looked absolutely delicious. He spent most of the time taking the mick out of Mary Berry too, which was really good fun to watch.
Afterwards we had another walk around and ended up tasting ALL of the alcohol. My favourites were definitely the Thunder Toffee Vodka and a really nice Amaretto from a stand that was selling lots of different whiskeys and vodka. I think we were gearing ourselves up for the wine tasting!
The wine tasting was probably my favourite part of the day and was hosted by Peter Richards from Saturday Kitchen. All together we had five wines to taste, including some prosecco, champagne, white wine and two red wines. I really enjoyed learning all about the right way to taste wine and I was so surprised how much difference it made to how the wine tasted. After five glasses of wine… (three for me as I couldn’t drink the red) I had a quick photo and chat with Peter and then we braved the lunch time rush of people shopping.

I don’t know what I’m looking at… |
We spent the rest of the afternoon shopping and trying some yummy samples. I bought a couple of things, including some smoked, spicy and red Leicester cheese from the Snowdonia Cheese Company, some chocolate spread from Jim Jams and a few jars of peanut butter from The Wild Peanut. My Mum got very similar things and some of the Toffee Vodka. We also tried some delicious cannoli’s from Casa Cannoli, the woman there very kindly gave us a discount too!
I had the best day ever and after an absolute nightmare trying to book an Uber on the way home, we made it to our train home by three minutes thank you to the amazing black cab driver who cut every corner he could.
I really enjoyed the whole day and if you’re reading this Mum, thank you so much for coming to Good Food Show Londonwith me! I can’t wait for the next one! Has anyone ever been to the Good Food Show before? What were your favourite brands you discovered?
