It’s only taken 12 months of lockdown for me to finally come up with a creative way to plan at-home dates with my boyfriend but at least we’ve got there in the end, right?
For months now we have been tired of doing the same few date ideas over and over and as a result, we started listing off as many ideas as we possibly could to try and spark some inspiration between. It was only when I got to about 25 new ideas that I thought ”wait a minute, I should put these into a lucky dip box!”
So that’s exactly what we did.
Although I do plan to jazz up the box a little more than it currently is, all I did was grab a couple of pieces of paper, some pens, my favourite highlighters and an old Tupperware box.
Whether you’re creating a box with your partner or someone who you have recently started dating using local sites like this Staffordshire dating site, this is the perfect way to ensure your dates are fun, creative and varied every single time.
Creating Your Own Date Night Lucky Dip Box
Coding Your Dates
The first thing I did was think about the categories I want my dates to be in. Not all of them are something that we can easily plan, so I wanted to be sure we only picked those ones out of the box when we were able to give ourselves the time to prepare. In the end, I used my highlighters to create this handy little colour code:
PINK – Something we can do right away.
YELLOW – Something that requires a little bit of preparation.
GREEN – Something that we’re going to need to plan well in advance.
When restrictions start to lift and the world opens up again, I’ll also be adding in a couple of ‘outside dates’ too.
Whether you’re planning dates with your partner or someone you’ve met on local a dating site like Staffordshire Dating, I think we’re all hoping these types of dates are coming sooner rather than later, right?
Coming Up With Date Ideas
Once you’ve come up with your code, you need to start thinking of dates that you can include. For us, we just spent an hour or so reeling off all of the things we wanted to try to do together as a couple. We thought about our favourite things, things that we’ve never done before and things that we’ve always wanted to do and honestly, it was much easier to think of things than I ever thought it would be.
Before we knew it, we had 100 ideas to fold up, colour code and put in the box.
Date Ideas For Your Lucky Dip Box
As much as I’d love to sit here and write out 100 dates for you, a lot of them were personal to us and the things that we enjoy. Instead, I thought I’d share a couple of my favourites with you to help give you the inspiration needed to get started on your own lucky dip box.
- Create an at-home spa complete with face masks, treatments and relaxing music.
- Challenge yourself to cook a meal where one of you is blindfolded and the other one reads out the recipe.
- Recreate one of your favourite travel memories together.
- Go for a left or right walk, where you use a randomiser to tell you which way you should turn at each junction.
- Create an inside or outside scavenger hunt, complete with a prize for the winner.
- Build a blanket fort in your living room and watch a movie together.
- Set up a tent in the back garden and use a disposable BBQ to create your own ‘campfire’.
We do date night twice a week and after a year of somewhat crappy dates, I’m super excited to be switching things up a little bit! What would you put in your date night lucky dip box?
