Although I don’t actually menion it much here, I live in Telford, Shropshire. It’s certainly somewhere I have had a love-hate relationship with but having been forced to spend more time at home, I’m starting to slowly see the beauty of what is on my doorstep. From the independent businesses to the beautiful countryside, Telford really does have a little something for everyone.
With the restrictions starting to lift, me and my partner are now starting to think about how we can ease our way back into our old dating tradition.
Once a month, we would choose one day where we’d go somewhere local on a date. Whether it was for a picnic in the park or one of our favourite restaurants, it was always nice to spend time together doing something fun.
As it’s been OVER A YEAR since our last date that wasn’t ‘at home’ I am starting to get extremely excited about the prospect of a little bit of Shropshire Dating again. So excited, that I thought I’d share some of my favourite date ideas for couples in Telford:
Go For A Picnic In Dale End Park
During Summer, Dale End Park is such a beautiful place to spend the day. Whether you’re wandering around the stunning flower displays or you’re pulling out your favourite blanket up and setting up an Insta-worthy picnic, you could easily spend hours just enjoying each other’s company. While it can get busy during the summer holidays, there’s lots of space for you to social distance if needed.
Alternatively, Telford Town Park is much bigger, although not as aesthetically pleasing.
Visit Southwater For A Delicious Meal
Although the Southwater area has obviously been closed for a while, most of the restaurant’s have outdoor seating and as a result, will be opening up in the first wave of restrictions lifting. Whether that means you grab a bit to eat at Zizzi with someone you met on a Shropshire Dating Site or you go for a classic with a meal at Nando’s, you will need to make reservations well in advance to ensure you’re able to get a table outside. As restrictions ease more, it will start to become easier and easier to go for a bite to eat on a date.
Spend The Day Walking Around Ironbridge
Ironbridge is one of my favourite places in Telford and for good reason. From the cobbled streets to the fascinating history, Ironbridge is the perfect Shropshire Date location for both couples and those on their first ever date.
In summer, I love going to the ice cream shop on Wharfage, then walking down to Dale End Park along the River Severn. If you start at the top, there may also be a couple at pubs you can stop at along the way.
Visit One Of The Many Museums
There are so many incredible museums in Telford, especially in the Ironbridge and Coalbrookdale area. Whether you fancy dressing up as Victorian’s in Blists Hill or learning about the highest point the River Severn has reached during flooding, there are so many fascinating museums you can visit with your date.
Take A Hike
Okay, this may not be exactly what you want to hear when it comes to dating, but there are SO MANY incredible walks and hikes in the area that would it be a shame not to take advantage of them. Depending on your fitness level, you may want to spend the evening walking up the Wrekin just in time for sunset. One of my all-time favourite dates with my partner was the time we took a picnic to the top and waiting for the sun to set. It was hard work, but so so worth it as we got to watch the sun go down over all of Shropshire below.
Of course, I forgot about having to walk back down in the dark, but that’s a story for another day...
Although it has taken me a long time to find the beauty in Telford, going on dates with my partner definitely makes it easier to appreciate where I live. Who knows what we will discover together next?
