Before heading to Dubrovnik I did some research about where to eat and drink and cake across Buza Bar (1 and 2) on another travel blog. As a lover of great views and watching the sunset, this seemed absolutely PERFECT.
I knew to look about for a sign in the Old Town that says ‘great drinks and an incredible view’ but I wasn’t expecting to find it on our first day there. We were wandering around near the Game of Thrones filming location for the Walk of Shame and stumbled across the sign. As it was nearing 6.00pm, I dragged my boyfriend in the direction the sign was pointing and said let’s go grab a drink! Perfect timing!
We had to walk up a couple of steps before coming to a door with a metal gate in the side of the city walls. I was so inconspicuous that we actually nearly missed it, especially as there was a group of people standing on the steps and blocking the view through the door.
We pushed through (there was literally no other way) to be greeted by the view of the sea from the rock face against the city’s famous walls. Having seen pictures, I knew we were at the original Buza bar, the one I most wanted to go to.
We had to walk down a couple of flights of stairs, but once we got our drinks we went down to the bottom of the rocks (as far as I was brave enough to go) and made ourselves comfy ready for the sun to set.
Of course it was expensive and crazy busy, but honestly? It was worth it for the views. Straight ahead you could see the beautiful Lokrum Island, then just to our right you could see the cruise ships sailing off into the sunset.
It was so peaceful, and the perfect end to a magical first day in the city.
