A couple of days ago I was lucky enough to be able to attend the Urban Decay Summer Bloggers Event with the gorgeous Kirsty Lo at Selfridges in Birmingham. The event was a chance for bloggers to see some of the new summer launches, some of which were exclusive to Birmingham Selfridges.
I don’t actually own any Urban Decay products myself as I can hardly ever fork out for high-end products, but I have used them on a number of different occasions and I know there are a lot of products I need to get into my life as soon as possible. With this in mind, I turned up incredibly excited to hear about even more makeup I knew I would be coveting in no time.
Urban Decay Summer Bloggers Event
After a cheesy (and very nervous) group introduction, Kirsty introduced the new summer collection to us by telling us how it is all about bright colours that really pop when you wear them. I am definitely someone who plays it safe with nudes most of the time so I was really excited to start swatching everything.
First of all, we passed around the Revolution High Colour Lip Glosses and I was like a little kid in a sweet shop, the colours were all so stunning and bright. I am not normally one for wearing lip gloss as I think they are less pigmented but this was not the case at all and I would definitely say I may have been converted just a little bit. I especially fell in love with the shade Big Bang (the bright purple) as it was so bright and eye catching, perfect for a night out.
Next, we looked at the new Afterglow 8 Hour Blushers which were equally as stunning. I can’t live without blusher at the moment and I have been trying to be more adventurous with my shades, so having the time swatch as many of them as I could was definitely worthwhile. They are extremely pigmented so a little goes a long way, which is always a good thing when you’re paying a little bit more for a product. My favourites were Bang (seeing a little bit of a theme here…), Bittersweet and Quickie as I have never seen shades like them before. I love the ‘cut-out’ design of the packaging too, it looks awesome as you can see the shade through the patterned ‘UD’.
The day before the event Kirsty had posted on Facebook and Instagram that the new Urban Decay Vault ‘The Stockpile’ had arrived and I was a little bit excited to be able to see it as it is a Birmingham Selfridges exclusive. The vault features 10 Urban Decay lip liners and their matching lipsticks in one amazing set, including the one I have been after for a while – Venom. The Stockpile is absolutely stunning and only £180 for over £300 worth products – if only I still got my student loan!
After we had looked at the new collection and taken all the pictures we needed Kirsty did a general Q&A where we could ask anything we wanted. I asked which of the Naked Skin light foundations would be best for me as I didn’t know if I need a pink toned or yellow, so she kindly gave me a sample of each so I could find out which would be best suited to me which I can’t wait to try. I also learnt that foundations with a .5 after them are always pink toned and the ones with .0 are yellow toned, which is something I would never have known otherwise!
After a lot of looking around and mentally preparing a wish list ready for payday, it was time to leave. Everyone was given a lovely goody bag with the cutest UD ribbon on it, which was full of samples to try including a travel sized Velvet Glide-on Pencil in Black, a sample of the Pore Perfecting Primer and a range of different shades of the Naked Skin Foundation.Thank you Kirsty for an amazing event, it’s obvious you are so passionate about what you do and I can’t wait for the next one!
