72 Hours in Wroclaw, Poland

April 12, 2017

Poland had never really been on my travel bucket list. In fact, until around three months ago I don’t think it even crossed my mind to book a trip there.

Now, after just getting back from a long weekend In Wroclaw with Ashton Jade, I can’t help but want to go back over and over and over…

Why Poland? ?? ❤️

Originally me and Ashton were planning a girly weekend away in York. It’s pretty, instagramable and somewhere we could both get to pretty easy. We had spent quite a while looking at the best hotel deals and somehow ended up stumbling upon a deal for Wroclaw instead.

After Googling the area and seeing tonnes of photographs of the pretty colourful buildings we decided that we would much prefer to go somewhere we’d never been before, especially as it was working out at almost half the price.

We actually ended up missing the deal as we booked too late, but as we were so keen to go we booked our flights and AirBnB separately.  I think, with travel to the airport included it cost around £110 each for three nights – you can just about get one night in London for that so I was obviously impressed.

The journey to the Poland was probably not the most ideal (an 8-hour coach and an all nighter at Newcastle Airport) but oh my god, it was so worth it. ✈️

1️ Wroclaw, Day One

Looking back, the first day is now like one big colourful blur.

We arrived in Wroclaw Old Town around 12pm, dropped our bags off at our apartment just off of the main square, then went out with our cameras to do some exploring. Everything was new to us at this point and it was incredible walking around, taking it all in.

We didn’t have any concrete plans the first day so we spent a lot of time taking pictures, hunting for the famous Wroclaw Dwarfs, eating pizza and getting our bearings.

Around sunset, there is a lamplighter that goes around Cathedral Island lighting all of the old lamps so we thought we’d try and catch him at his first stop -Tumski Bridge. It sounded so adorable, but we got there far too early and it was starting to get really cold and windy. We decided it would be better to head back to the apartment, grab some food and get an early night.

We ended up taking a quick detour to Sephora on the way back, picking up some facemasks that would wake us up a little and doing some window shopping for our last day.

2️ Wroclaw, Day Two

We slept A LOT.
Having been awake for nearly 40 hours, we had a little bit of a lie in before we went back to the main square. It was raining quite a bit so we went straight for something to eat at Whiskey in a Jar – an amazing steakhouse just around the corner from our room.

After lunch, we made our way to Mary Magdelene’s church, where there is a small and narrow bridge (The ‘Witches Bridge’) going from one tower to the other. The bridge is the highest bridge in the city, so there were some damn good views from the top. Especially with Ashton’s zoom lens in tow 😉

We then walked around Wroclaw Market Square (again) before embarking on a little bit of a cocktail crawl. We found a quirky bar that sold extravagant cocktails and so we sat outside people watching for what felt like hours. It was so relaxing I could have sat there all day, even if it was raining and freezing cold.

After a few cocktails in different bars went to a cute little Italian restaurant in the main square. We were the only ones in there so we didn’t stay long, but the food and wine were delicious. Note to self: Moscato is much sweeter in Poland than it is in England.

Ashton had NEVER tried pancakes before so I googled the nearest creperie, which happened to be a five-minute walk away. On the way there we stumbled into the most surreal experience, a huge march (that we later discovered was a part of their week-long Easter celebrations). It was incredible to watch, even if the music was haunting to listen to.

To sum it up, day two involved A LOT of food and high places.

3️ Wroclaw, Day Three

The start of day three was spent getting some outfit shots of my AMAZING new spring dress in the main market square.

It had been pretty quiet on the Thursday and Friday, but as it was now the weekend there was so much more going on. My favourite has got to be the people who blowing huge bubbles throughout the square, it made everything look so much prettier. If that is even possible…

After taking approximately 1 million pictures with the bubbles we jumped on the tram to the zoo. ?

I’m thinking of writing a full post on what we got up to at the zoo so I won’t go into too much detail but oh my god, it was so cute. While we were there my family FaceTimed me because they had some exciting news to share with me – my sister had her scan and found out she is going to be having a little boy in August. They revealed it in the cutest way, holding cupcakes up with blue sprinkles and shouting ”it’s a boy” – eeeeek!

When we finally got back into Wroclaw main square we went back to Whiskey in a Jar for dinner as we enjoyed it so much the first time around.

Our last stop for the trip was one final visit to Sephora to spend the rest of our Zloty, because what else would you spend your leftover holiday money on!?

The next day we had to head to the airport pretty early, so unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to squeeze in one last walk around the square. I was so gutted to leave and I think after only four days, I can honestly say I have left my heart in Wroclaw.

Poland, you have definitely surprised me and I can’t wait to come back again soon. ?
