In just under two months I’m going to be heading back to my second-home, California. If you’ve been following me for a while, you will know that this is going to be the first time I’m going back since I temporarily lived there in 2012 and oh my gosh, I couldn’t be more excited.
When I first arrived in California, with the help of my roommates, I put together a list of everything I wanted to do whilst I was there. From trying In-n-Out to accidentally bumping into a famous person, I had thought of absolutely everything. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to complete it before I left four months later.
Although I’m heading back to Los Angeles and Orange County and won’t be able to cross EVERYTHING off of my bucket list, I thought I’d put together a list of some of the places I still want to visit in The Golden State. Having done a lot of LA and San Diego, the majority of my bucket list is now a little further afield…
So, where do I still want to go?
Yosemite
Having visited an American National Park in the past, I know just how beautiful they can be. With hiking trails, stunning lunch spots and gorgeous views, I’d actually LOVE to visit every National Park in America and judging by the pictures I have seen, Yosemite definitely won’t disappoint. In fact, Yosemite National Park is one of those places that has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember.
Although I know I won’t be able to visit on my upcoming trip, I hope that I’ll soon be walking through the tall sequoia trees and hiking to see the views from Glacier Point.
Joshua Tree
Although I lived within driving distance of Joshua Tree, it’s somewhere I never quite managed to make it to during my time in California, so hopefully, I get a chance during my next visit.
Disneyland and Universal Studios
I think this one is definitely self-explanatory as who doesn’t want to go to Disney and Universal, right?
I actually had a chance to go to Disneyland whilst I was living in California however as I was becoming short on money, I decided to spend my last few days working extra hours so I could save a little more money for my trip to Boston. I now REALLY regret it as I had bought a friends ticket for just $25, rather than the $100+ they normally are.
HOPEFULLY, this is one of the places I visit on my upcoming trip.
San Francisco
I haven’t actually made it to North California yet, despite there being several spots that are high up on my bucket list. The biggest, of course, is San Francisco.
From walking the Golden Gate Bridge to visiting Alcatraz, I’d love to spend some time exploring the city.
Palm Springs
I feel like this is another obvious choice and one I’m surprised I haven’t done yet. As a well-known Instagram heaven, Palm Springs is definitely high up on my list of places I want to visit.
Maybe, now that I know I love festivals, I should consider going to Coachella? I can dream, right?
Catalina Island
Finally, Catalina Island is somewhere I would never have considered if it wasn’t for my roommates going there for their anniversary. Located just southwest of LA, Catalina Island is a stunning place to visit if you want to spend some time relaxing in the California sunshine.
Have you ever been to California before? What should be on my bucket list? What would be on yours?
