With Christmas just around the corner, I would usually be planning lots of festive-themed dates for me and boyfriend over the next few weeks. From walks around the Christmas markets to Christmas shopping in Birmingham, December is my busiest month of the year. This year, however, things are a little different.
While we may be *almost* out of lockdown, my local area is going to be going straight into Tier Two, which means lots of the plans we would usually be making this time of year are unfortunately not possible because of the pandemic. Not only that but a lot of the local attractions we visit are not offering Christmas attractions this year.
No Christmas markets. No Christmas lights switch-ons and absolutely no chance of drinks in a local bar on Mad Friday.
So, whether you’re heading out on a first date or you’re looking for something to do with your partner on date night, here are five pandemic-friendly ideas for you to choose from:
Spend The Evening Watching Christmas Movies
One of the best date nights and date ideas for Christmas time is to spend the evening watching Christmas movies together. All you need to do is make your living room as comfortable as you possibly can and stick up on lots of festive-themed snacks to eat during your movie marathon. Next, pick a couple of movies and watch them over the course of the evening. Whether that’s the classics or ones you have never seen before, it’s a great way to get in the Christmas spirit.
Decorate Your Tree And Listen To Christmas Music
If you haven’t put your Christmas tree up yet, this is definitely something you can make a date night out of! By whacking on the Christmas tunes and bringing all of your Christmas decorations out of the loft, you can set yourself up for an evening of getting your home ready for the festive period.
Go For A Winter Walk Somewhere New
I don’t know what it is but there is something magical about going for a winter walk. I don’t know if it is the wrapping up warm, seeing your breath in front of you as you speak or seeing the frost all over the grass, but I really love going for walks when it’s cold outside. To me, this is one of the perfect winter dates, especially if you can go somewhere new to explore a completely different walking route to what you’re used to. Whether you’re in Wiltshire dating or you’re in Shropshire, there will definitely be somewhere for you to go on a nice winter walk.
Make Gingerbread Houses Or Do Some Christmas Baking
I’ve always wanted to make a gingerbread house and for some reason, I’ve never got around to it. Now that I’m going to spending more time at home than usual in December, I think it’s the perfect time to give it a go with my partner. I imagine it’s going to be incredibly messy and probably go completely wrong, but it’s still going to be fun!
If you don’t want to make a gingerbread house, any festive baking will do!
Put Together Your Favourite Snacks For A Snacking Board
Lately, I keep seeing people share grazing boards that they have put together themselves and although I don’t think that I’m going to be able to make mine look as presentable as the ones on Pinterest, I think they’re a great idea for a date night. All you need to do is put together all of your favourite festive snacks onto a board, giving you everything you need to enjoy during an evening in with your partner. Whether that’s a savoury board, a sweet board or a combination of both, you can pick at all of your favourite things while you watch some of your favourite Christmas TV shows.
What other pandemic-friendly dates can you think of? I’d love for some more inspiration to help make the next few weeks as festive as I possibly can!
