You may have heard this before, but your skin is the largest organ of your body, so it’s imperative that you take care of it. Many of you probably eat right, exercise regularly, and even take vitamins to take care of your internal health, but are you doing what’s best for your skin?
Other than a bit of lotion on the elbows or a nightly moisturizing cream facial treatment, many people rarely give a second thought to protecting their skin. Unfortunately, that means that you could be in for some real issues down the road.
It is critical that you do everything you can to protect your skin. Your skin needs protection ALL of the time, and with that in mind, we wanted to pass on a few tips that can help you do the best job possible.
1. Wear Sunscreen
The sun can be brutal on your skin, even if you don’t spend a lot of time outside. When was the last time you used a product to help protect you from the sun?
Whether you’re enjoying a day at the beach or a simple outdoor barbecue with friends and family, protecting yourself with titanium sunscreen and staying out of direct sunlight when the sun’s rays are the strongest is essential
And that doesn’t mean just during the hot parts of the year. Even after your end-of-summer party, you need to protect your skin with a quality product whenever you’re outside. Lastly, remember that protection generally only lasts around 2 hours, so you need to make sure that you reapply several times throughout the day and after getting out of the water.
2. Take Care of Your Feet
Your hands are a very important body part, helping you with a good portion of tasks throughout the day. That said, you probably do what you can to keep them looking young and beautiful. However, how well do you take care of your feet?
They enable you to accomplish so much in life, but they’re often the last thing we think of when it comes to maintenance. To help you remember, keep your favorite night-time skincare products next to your bed, and before going to bed, apply moisturizer to your feet and put on overnight socks to ensure you get the most from the treatment.
3. Don’t Forget About Winter
Unless you’re able to travel the world and visit somewhere where it’s summer, you need to do a couple of extra things to protect your skin in the winter.
- Lip Balm – chapped lips are not only unsightly, but they can also be quite painful. Use a quality lip protection product to keep yours safe from the chilling winds and dry air.
- Speaking of dry air, use a quality air humidifier. Ideally, the humidity should be 50-70% indoors.
4. Stay Hydrated
While you may remember to stay hydrated when out on an adventurous date or exercising, many of you probably don’t think about how important hydration is for the health of your skin. Your skin is made up of two-thirds water, and not only does staying hydrated provide it with moisture, but it also flushes out any toxins and bacteria that can be detrimental to your skin.
Additionally, fruit and vegetables usually have high water levels, but they also include the all-important nutrient potassium. When protecting your skin, you have to ensure that you’ve got enough of this in your diet.
Needless to say, protecting your skin and taking care of it regularly is extremely important to your overall health. Adding the above tips to your healthcare routine will help protect your skin and keep it “happy” no matter what time of year it is.
