Mother's Day Afternoon Tea at Hadley Park House Hotel

For Mother's Day this year me, my Sister and my Cousin decided to book an Afternoon Tea for my Mum, Nan and Aunt. I don't know Afternoon Tea in Telford too well, but after asking around at work (and with my Sisters advice) the best option seemed to be Hadley Park House Hotel - luckily it's right next to my Nan's house too!

When we arrived the venue was lovely, and the room we were in was nice and small with pretty fairy lights decorating the beams. We were luckily sat next right under a huge heater, so we were nice and toasty for the entire time we were there.

They brought out tea and coffees first and I had a peppermint tea, of course. It wasn't long after we'd had our first drinks that our finger sandwiches arrived with sausage rolls and cheese and onion tarts, all of which looked absolutely delicious. The sandwiches were a selection of ham salad, cheese salad, egg mayo with salad and salmon an cream cheese. I think the ham or cheese ones were with my favourite, as they were nice and simple.

The cheese and onion tarts were delicious, they were a sort of caramelised onion with mature cheddar in a really rich pastry - amazing! The sausage rolls were quite messy to eat, but still tasted amazing as they were hot. These were served with a lovely glass of champagne each, although I may or may not have had two of these..

After we had finished our savoury bits we had another drink each, and waiting for our desserts. We had to wait quite a while, however I am kind of glad when I saw the amount they brought out to us.
All together we had two three-tier cake stands filled with desserts, including scones, custard tarts, chocolate mousse cakes, macaroons and little chocolate cups filled with cream, jam and meringue.

I ended up having chocolate everything - a chocolate macaroon, the chocolate filled cup and some of the chocolate mousse cake. They were all amazing, however I found the cake was a little bit too rich for me and maybe should have been smaller. The chocolate cup filled with cream was delicious though, if I wasn't so full I would have eaten so much more of it.

Unfortunately I didn't leave enough room for a scone, but everyone that tried one said they really enjoyed it, especially as they were still warm and had both jam and clotted cream provided. I wish I had go to try one though, they looked so nice.

Overall, the whole experience was amazing! It was nice to go out just the girls and enjoy tea and cake in a beautiful venue! We'll definitely be going back as it was only £18.95 per person, including the glass of champagne!

Lots of love,

  1. Afternoon tea is something I've always wanted to experience, sounds a bit daft really haha! But it looks fantastic, I'll definitely be treating myself and my mum to this x
